Back
in 1998, 2000AD comic book owners Egmont Fleetway set up a
Film (Fleetway Film and Television) division to try and sell
the rights of the properties and characters it owned in the
2000AD comic book. This was brought about after their succesful
sale of the rights to the Judge Dredd movie.
There
was just one major problem with this, Judge Dredd was a bit
of a flop so this probably hampered their attempts at selling
their rights. The people they had involved were Harley Cokeliss,
Duncan Heath and Ileen Maisel of Fine Line Productions. They
had limited success with this as none of the projects making
it to either screen or TV.
ABC
Warriors is a story about a group of seven robots sent to
clean up Mars by whatever means necessary. ABC Warriors was
a classic strip in 2000AD with very juicy dialogue and original
characters such as Mongrol, who only ever said "Mongrol
Smush!"and Joe Pineapples the deadly assassin.
Last
year 2000AD was sold by Egmont Fleetway to Rebellion, who
some of you might know as the game developers who brought
Aliens Vs Predator to your PC. Rebellion have been trying
to attract some more attention to the selling of the rights
properties once more.
When
we hear more news on this property you can be assured you
will hear it here!
