Accident
Man was a comic book creation of Pat Mills who was hugely
responsible for creating the classic british comic book 2000AD.
Accident Man was a character he created for Toxic comic in
the 90's that followed a hitman who skillfully killed his
targets by making it look like an accident. Accident Man was
one of the funniest things that Mills ever created and it
would have been wonderful to see this at the movies.
In
fact it nearly happened as Dark Horse took up the option of
converting the strip for the screen back in 1997. Now as a
lot of you are aware Dark Horse have had a lot of success
in doing this such as The Mask and Barb Wire (well it wasn't
a success, but you get my meaning?). They then took the project
to Universal who started working on it. They hired Mark Verheiden
to convert the strip.
And
that my friends is where the trail dried up. No more word
has been heard of this project since.
If
anyone has heard anything at all then do get in touch so we
can either consign it to the never to be made file or are
they sitting on the proposal waiting for the right time?
