7th January 2004: The Aimee McPherson Story Update:
“THE AIMEE MCPHERSON STORY”, DIRECTED BY RICHARD
ROSSI, STARS KIERA CHAPLIN AS MYRTLE STE. PIERRE, THE MISTRESS
OF AIMEE MCPHERSON’S THIRD HUSBAND. This film reveals
the answers to questions that have been historical legends for
decades. Finally, Aimee McPherson’s controversial life
has been resurrected on the big screen.
The notorious life and questionable kidnapping of the first
female evangelist, Aimee McPherson, takes us back to the 1920’s
and shows the struggle between being a “woman of God”
and a compassionate human being. Kiera Chaplin was drawn to
this project because her grandfather, Charlie Chaplin, visited
Aimee McPherson’s Los Angeles Temple and proclaimed Aimee
to be the most charismatic and talented woman alive.
“I wanted to experience what my grandfather had felt while
listening to her moving sermons,” commented Kiera Chaplin.
“Playing Myrtle gave me the opportunity to crawl into
the mind of a seductress who ultimately masters a scandalous
plan against Aimee.”
Aimee McPherson’s religious movement began with her 5,300
seat Angelus Temple in California, and has grown to boast 2
million members worldwide. To this day, McPherson is known as
one of the most significant revivalist in the early twentieth
century because of her notoriety for healing the sick, speaking
in tongues and even raising the dead.
Kiera Chaplin’s performance as Myrtle Ste. Pierre in “The
Aimee McPherson Story” is due to be released in June of
2004.
