The release of Alexander has been pushed back 3 weeks to November 24th. Sources cite reasons such as time needed to complete editing, the upcoming elections, and placement closer to Oscar contenders. Maybe it was just because it was originally slated to open opposite The Incredibles. -Variety

Monday 8th March 2004: Alexander Update:
Angelina Jolie has been talking about her experiences filming Alexander "It was fast for me because I was in Morocco for two weeks and then Pinewood for almost two weeks. It felt very fast, but for the guys, it was a very dragged-out and intense filming with lots of preparation ahead of time to become soldiers. They were really put out in the dirt. With the amount of work they did, the diets they were all put on and the things they were living on, it was hard. The stories when that comes out will be amazing."

Tuesday 10th February 2004: Alexander Update:
Colin Farrell has fell and injured himself in his hotel in Thailand while filming for Alexander. He had to attend hospital and have a cast fitted to his foot. It did not affect filming which continued as normal.

Wednesday 28th January 2004: Alexander Update:
Colin Farrell has been talking about the homosexuality in Alexander, and that they aren't trying to sensationalise that element of Alexander's story "There was no term for it then, it was just part of the culture, what happened was older men, 50-70 year olds, used to spend the evening with younger men and impart their knowledge to them and then they'd go to bed together. It's not a gay film, it's not a straight film - it's just a f***ing story."

Wednesday 14th January 2004: Alexander Update:
Shooting of the Oliver Stone epic Alexander has moved to Thailand, the last stop for the crew.

Wednesday 7th January 2004 Alexander Update:
In this weeks' Heat magazine Colin Farrell has reportedly got movie bosses on forthcoming epic Alexander worried - thanks to his strong Irish accent. The hunky Minority Report actor stars in the lead role of Oliver Stone's much-hyped biopic about the legendary Macedonian King, but, according to British magazine Heat, film insiders are very worried his native accent will undermine the part. An insider tells the magazine, "He sounds like a Dublin bus driver."

Wednesday 26th November 2003: Alexander Update:
It has been revealed that Brian Blessed has been signed up to play Leonidas, a character in the movie who will teach Alexander how to fight and behave like a king.

Ian is Presently in Morrocco filming for this blockbuster due to be released in Summer 2004.

Tuesday 7th October 2003: Alexander Update:
Oliver Stone and Colin Farrell sparked a media scrum recently when they
arrived at the Marrakech International Film Festival to talk up the
Alexander the Great epic, which Stone is shooting just outside the city.
Stone talked about both his current film and his recent documentary about
Cuban leader Fidel Castro, Commandante. The director said he was happy with
progress so far on the shoot of Alexander, which stars Farrell in the title
role. "Knock on wood, it's going very well," said Stone. "We're on schedule
and on budget. The weather's been a little tricky, with sandstorms and rain
that surprised us. But we're pushing on." The director added that Morocco
was the key location for Alexander, which will later move to Thailand for
scenes involving elephants and England for studio sequences. He also paid
tribute to the film's producer Moritz Borman. "He was the only producer who
didn't pull out of Morocco after the bombings (in Casablanca) in May, when
other Hollywood producers pulled out and bad-mouthed the country," Stone
said.

Monday 6th October 2003: Alexander Update:
Producer Thomas Schuhly has been talking about Alexander "We're shooting for 87 days, which must be some kind of record. We've built huge sets, and we had literally trains full of props."

Monday 22nd September 2003: Alexander Update:
Shooting on Oliver Stone's Alexander has just started in Morocco. On his
first day of lensing, he'll be directing a cast of 800 to re-enact the
Battle of Guagamela. "I figured that killing somebody right away is a good
way to break the ice," Stone says. That victory in 331 BC, by which
Alexander and his troops ended Persian rule in Asia, was a turning point in
ancient history. After Morocco, the production will move to London's
Pinewood Studios on November 10, then head to Thailand in January. Stone
wraps in January, with the film due in U.S. cinemas by Thanksgiving 2004. Interestingly none of the leads will take part in this part of the filming as we have it on good account they have left Morroco and will not return for another month.

Tuesday 9th September 2003: Alexander Update:
Oliver Stone has signed Val Kilmer to play the Macedonian king Philip in his forthcoming epic Alexander. Kilmer will play the father of Alexander the Great (Colin Farrell) and the husband of Olympias (Angelina Jolie). Meanwhile, actor Rory McCann has been cast as Farrell's right-hand man in the new movie. The strapping Scotsman was cast after the director spotted him stripped to his vest in a TV ad for Porridge Oats. Filming is scheduled to move to London on November 10 before wrapping in early January in Thailand. Warner Bros. is expected to release Alexander in North America in November 2004.
