Today the official site for Eight Legged Freaks goes live and Coming Soon scored an early look at it.

"The site can keep you entertained for hours, with such features as 'Make Your Own Movie Poster'. The section allows you to take different shots from the film and composite your own style of poster. There's also a game, coming soon, called "Let the Squashing Begin". The screenshots of the game look very cool - basically a first-person Spider shooting game. There will be 'Scream-Savers', behind-the-scenes clips, a sweepstakes, wallpaper and buddy icons".

Be sure to take a look. I've also posted links below to the Quicktime trailer for the film.

The name has been changed from Arac Attack to Eight Legged Freaks. Warner Brothers have said that the title was too similar sounding to Iraq Attack. The decision to change the names follow the events in the US on Sept. 11th.

There's a very early review online courtesy of the folk over at AICN. This guy, LA Caller, loves this movie! He kicks off proceedings by outlining the story in more detail, "Arac Attack is a film with thrills and chills - frightening, but in a fun sort of way. A toxic waste spill near a small Nevada town causes spiders to mutate into giant arachnids, which then go on the attack...packing a poisonous punch. Arac Attack features an ensemble cast that lend a brand of humor to the action - including David Arquette, Kari Wuhrer, and Doug E. Doug. The film is brought to you by the producing team of Roland Emmerich and Dean Devlin (Independence Day, Godzilla), and will be rated PG-13 for its moments of intense, scary action." There are no spoilers in his review, and you can check out the rest of what he has to say over at AICN.

Okay, somes news already on this hot movie due to hit our screens next year. CHUD have posted an image which could be of the 'ARAC' spider that will terrify us in Arac Attack. Looks like conceptual art, but pretty good all the same. Go check it out.

Produced by the team behind Independence Day, Stargate and Universal Soldier, Roland Emmerich and Dean Devlin. Holding on to the directing reigns will be Ellory Elkayem who also co-wrote the film.

As I said before the guys behind the film want it to look and feel like a 50's B movie, but obviousley with a much larger budget. With a fairly low-key cast (see below), perhaps the filmmakers will be wanting to put much of that budget up there on screen. I'm thinking Starship Troopers here.

In the lead role in this is David Arquette alongside a supporting cast that includes Doug E. Doug (Cool Runnings) and Kari Wuhrer from TV's Sliders. There is also a tiny rumour that Arquettes wife, Courtney Cox may also feature in the movie, but only in a cameo role.

There are some set stills at Coming Attractions.

More news as it comes in.
