Word reaches us that director Jean-Francois Richet has
signed up Ethan Hawke and Laurence Fishburne to star
in the remake of the John Carpenter classic Assault
on Precint 13. The movie updates the action to the present
day in a police precinct building that is about to be
shut down. During a snowy New Year's Eve, a mobster
(Fishburne) is temporarily incarcerated at Precinct
13, the soon-to-close police station. As the sun sets
and a long night begins, a motley crew of policemen
and prisoners reluctantly captained by a cop (Hawke)
must band together to fight off a rogue gang that wants
to free the mobster.
Tuesday
27th January 2004: Assault on Precinct 13 Update:
Jean-Francois Richet has been signed up to direct the
remake of Assault on Precinct 13. The script for the
remake has been written by James DeMonaco. Focus Features
will distribute in the US. The original took place in
an isolated, nearly abandoned Los Angeles police station,
in which officers, staff and prisoners are forced to
negotiate a partnership when a vengeful street gang
lays siege to the building, the remake will move the
setting to the present day, in a police precinct made
obsolete by the industrialization of its surroundings.

Monday 2nd June 2003: Assault on Precint 13 Update:
John
Carpenter's cult classic Assault on Precinct 13 is to
be remade, with a
new script by James DeMonaco (The Negotiator). The new
version transports
the story to the present day and is set in a police
precinct made obsolete
by the industrialization of its surroundings.
