Samuel L. Jackson is in early talks to star
as a controversial California
high school basketball coach in Paramount's Back in
the Day. The film
revolves around Ken Carter, who made national news in
1999 when he benched
the entire undefeated basketball team at Richmond High
School for poor
academic performance. He forfeited two league games
and made the gym
off-limits until students raised their grades. His son
was one of the
members of the 1999 team who went on to earn four-year
athletic
scholarships.

Thomas
Carter (Save the Last Dance) is in talks to direct Back
in the Day, a
movie based on controversial high school basketball
coach Ken Carter. Mark
Schwahn was hired last year to write the screenplay.
Coach Carter made
