Basic re-teams John Travolta and Samuel L. Jackson, theri first film together since 1994, and that collaboration was Pulp Fiction. Basic also stars Andy Garcia, Harry Connick Jnr and Taye Diggs.

Basic sees Travolta as a DEA agent investigating the dissapearance of an Army Ranger drill sergeant and his cadets, who went missing during a training exercise.

Shooting started back in November 2001 under director John McTiernan, and recently wrapped. Filming took place in Panama and Florida.

The film's release is penciled in for the early part of 2003.

The Florida Times Union ran an article that was picked up by Dark Horizons back in mid-April that had a lot of information on the film.

- The easy majority of the story takes place over 12 night time hours in Panama during the middle of a hurricane with a lot of shots taking place in the cold wet outdoor setting of the muddy jungle (in actual fact a redressed hangar at Cecil Field).

- Despite this being the big 'reunion' movie for Travolta and Jackson who're working together again for the first time since "Pulp Fiction", the pair sadly have only three scenes together in the whole film.

- Along with those two is an impressive cast including Andy Garcia, Connie Nielsen, Harry Connick Jr, Tim Daly, Taye Diggs, Giovanni Ribisi, Roseyn Sanchez, Brian Van Holt, Cristian De la Fuente and Tait Ruppert who is working for Travolta again for the fifth time in the last three years.

- Travolta and Nielsen play DEA agents sent to investigate a mystery surrounding a tough as nails drill sergeant (Jackson).
- Shooting ran from November to March 21st in Florida with pick up shots taking place in Panama in recent weeks.

- The film is scheduled for release February 2003.
