10th December 2004 Bewitched Update:
I don't know about you but whenever my mind starts thinking
about this latest TV adapatation the thought that that springs
to mind is "I hope this isn't as lousy as Nicole's last
comedy The Stepford Wives". I'm seeing Will Ferrell in
the same light as Matthew Broderick was in that, Shirley Maclaine
as the Bette Midler archetype. And lets be brutal here Nora
Ephron's ouvre is just jam packed with sentimental slush. Haven't
heard any reports of filming troubles unlike Stepford so here's
hoping.

2004: Bewitched Update:
Jason Schwartzman has been added to the cast of Bewitched opposite
Will Ferrell, Nicole Kidman, Michael Caine, Shirley MacLaine,
Joan Plowright and Kristen Chenoweth. Schwartzman will play
the agent of Ferrell's character. Samantha (Kidman), a powerful
member of the society of witches that has lived apart from (and
disdained) humanity for many centuries, falls in love with a
mortal, Darrin Stephens. Much to the disgust of most of her
family, she vows to give up witchcraft and become an ordinary
suburban housewife, raising a family (bearing Tabitha and Adam).
Never able to give up her heritage completely, the friction
between the matriarchal, moneyless society of her birth and
the patriarchal, capitalist society of modern advertising drives
the comedy.
Friday

Tuesday
13th January 2004: Bewitched Update:
Producer Doug Wick has been talking about development of the
script for Bewitched ""We worked for a really long
time or I should say, we failed for a really long time on this
one trying to get a version that had new life," Wick told
the trade. "Why make it unless you have a real idea? And
Nora Ephron came up with a fantastic way to make it work. Turned
it on its ear, but got the best part of the story. So, there'll
be lots of magic, but it won't be swamped by magic. She's got
a great character-comedy premise. The guy who is going to play
Darrin - which we haven't quite closed yet - when you get who
Darrin is with Nicole, you'll just get the whole movie."
Filming will start in July.
Friday
10th October 2003: Bewitched Update:
Will Ferrell has landed the coveted role of Darrin in the remake
of
Bewitched. The project, which is expected to star Nicole Kidman
in the lead
role of Samantha, is being directed by Nora Ephron. Ferrell
is also being
lined up for the lead role The Salesman, a pitch by The Simpsons
veteran
Dana Gould. Ferrell would play a slacker stereo salesman who
is an
inveterate liar. His compulsive lying leaves him living with
his parents and
engaged to two women because he can't bear to disappoint either
one. As the
lies catch up to him, the salesman meets a no-nonsense girl
who gets him to
change his ways.
Monday

Friday
6th December 2002: Bewitched Update:
Nicole Kidman has been talking about the preparation she is
undergoing for the Bewitched adaptation to the big screen"I
haven't gotten the nose down yet, but I'm determined that I'll
do my own nose twitching and they won't have to use special
effects, that show was huge when I was growing up in Australia,
I loved it and I always wanted to play Samantha and her bad
cousin [Serena], too. It just seems so fun to be able to play
the good and the bad.Oh, gosh, can you imagine having those
powers? If you could just do one nose twitch and have world
peace. Tolerance and peace. That would be the best use of those
powers."
Monday
