Looks like the UK release date for The Calcium Kid has been pushed back again. This time to September 2004.

Wednesday 2nd July 2003: The Calcium Kid Update:
Just received the following info on The Calcium Kid "The 'Cast and Crew' screening of 'The Calcium Kid' took place at the Warner Village Cinema in Leicester Square on 22nd June 2003. I was fortunate to be there (courtesy of my wife appearing in the film so excuse me if you think I am biased) and see the film following a brief intro from Alex De Rakoff. The good news is, it was worth the wait, it is absolutely fantastic! At last we have another British hit. Omid Djalli (excuse the spelling) steals every scene he's in. He is hilarious. Orlando Bloom gives an excellent lead performance and has a cheeky innocence in his performance which works brilliantly with Omid's character Herbie and Rafe Spall's character,Stanley. Lacey BOND( ex Toto Coelo band member 1980's) plays Stanley's mother and gets the dubious pleasure of slamming a door in Orlando Bloom's face. She would much rather have had the on screen kiss. Unfortunately that role was fulfilled by Billy PIPER ( Chris EVANS wife) who gave a very promising performance as Orlando's love interest in the film as 'Angel'.

Incidentally Rafe Spall is going to be as well known as his dad (Timothy) he is just great.

I won't spoil the fun for those who want to see it but it is a fast moving comedy spoof documentary. Loads of twists and turns. Edited in the same style as 'Snatch' (same guy apparently did both.)
All the cast gave sterling performances and I am sure many of them will grace our screens in various forms in the months and years to come.

I can't give you the actors name but also watch out for the character Pete Wright! He is another find. Top acting.
Also watch out for cameo rolls by Chris EUBANK and Frank BRUNO (genuinely funny)

The film will Premier in late September /early October 2003

Filming is due to start on Monday 2nd September in London on the new Orlando Bloom movie to be called The Calcium Kid, starring alongside the Lord Of The Rings star will be Omid Djalili and David Kelly.The movie will be directed by Alex De Rakoff, it's first movie having directed music videos up till now. The movie tells the tale of a young milkman called Jimmy, who is an amateur boxer in his spare time and ends up fighting the world champion. It's a comedy.
