5th August 2003: Cellular Update:
Jason Statham will play the bad guy in Cellular,
joining Kim Basinger, Chris
Evans and William H. Macy in the David Ellis-directed drama.
Evans portrays
a young man who answers a cell phone call from a desperate
kidnap victim
(Basinger) and has to track her down while making sure he
doesn't lose the
connection. Macy plays a sympathetic cop and Statham is in
talks to take on
the role of the kidnapper.

for Cellular. He will play a cop in the movie.

Director David Ellis is in negotiations with Kim Basinger
and Chris Evans
(not THAT Chris Evans!) to star in Cellular that is being
developed by New
Line Cinema. The movie is being produced by Dean Devlin and
Lauren Loyd via
Electric Entertainment Co. and MBST/Lloyd Prods. The movie
will centre on a
a kidnapped woman who places a random call, reaching a young
man whom she must persuade to help her.
Friday 2nd May 2003: Cellular Update:
Dean Devlin has been talking about Cellular "I'm
going to do a movie at New Line Cinema called 'Cellular'.
We're going to shoot it this summer. David Ellis who did 'Final
Destination 2' is directing it. And it'll be an action thriller.It's
the story of a young boy who gets a call on his cell phone
from a woman who's been kidnapped. He has until the battery
dies on the phone to find it."
Wednesday
16th October 2002: Cellular Update:
Director David Ellis has been signed up by New Line to direct
Cellular. The script for Cellular has been written by Larry
Cohen and tells the tale of a young guy who receives a random
call on his mobile from a kidnapped woman. Filming on Cellular
will start next March in Boston and Montreal.
