Wednesday 7th May 2003: First Daughter Update:
A victor has finally emerged in the who’s going to get to call their film
First Daughter saga. Two different movies about the U.S. President’s
daughter, but both with the same title, were heading our way next year, but
now Alcon Entertainment has finally conceded the title of First Daughter to
New Regency. However, Alcon will still be first to make a movie about the
Prez’s newly-liberated offspring. Alcon's now Untitled Mandy Moore Project
is scheduled to begin production on May 25 in London for a ten-week shoot.
The cast will be rounded out with Anabella Sciorra, Jeremy Piven and Mark
Harmon as the President of the United States. Meanwhile, New Regency's First
Daughter, which stars Katie Holmes, is slated to begin shooting a week later
in Los Angeles.

24th April 2003: Flirting With Freedom Update:
Katie Holmes will star in 20th Century Fox's First Daughter for director
Forest Whitaker. She will portray the 18-year-old daughter of the President
of the United States, whose life in the spotlight begins to take its toll.
Warner Bros. has a similar project, which shares the First Daughter name,
with Mandy Moore starring. Both are targeting a January 2004 release.

Thursday 20th March 2003: Flirting With Freedom Update:
The Fox production of First Daughter is thought to be heading to Prague for a six week shoot, with two weeks in London and then a final week in Italy.

Thursday 13th March 2003: First Daughter Update:
Two projects with exactly the same title are in the works. Forest Whitaker
has signed on to direct the romantic comedy First Daughter for Regency
Enterprises. Meanwhile, Alcon Entertainment is in pre-production on its own
First Daughter movie, a romantic comedy starring Mandy Moore which will
serve as TV helmer Andy Cadiff's feature directorial debut. Regency's
project is slated to begin production in mid-May, while Alcon will begin
production on May 17 in London and distributor Warner Bros. plans to release
the film in January 2004. Regency’s film is the tale of the college-age
daughter of the U.S. president who insists on going to college without a
retinue of Secret Service agents. The president agrees, but slips a
downy-faced agent into the school to watch her. They fall in love, until she
figures out his identity. In Alcon's version, the U.S. president's
18-year-old daughter gives the Secret Service the slip to go on a romantic
European road trip unsupervised by the earpiece set.
