David Duchovny is to join Toni Collette and Nia Vardalos
in new comedy Connie and Carla. The film, directed by Michael
Lembeck, is described as Some Like It Hot meets Tootsie. It
centres on two working-class dinner theater singers who are
forced to go undercover in Los Angeles as drag queens. Duchovny
plays Jeff, who, while searching for his drag-queen brother
in West Hollywood, falls for Vardalos' character. The movie
is scheduled to go into production the first week of May.

Director Michael Lembeck is in talks to sign Toni Collette
up to the cast of Connie and Carla, Collette will play opposite
Nia Vardalos as two dinner-theater singers who are forced
to go undercover in Los Angeles as drag queens.

Spyglass Entertainment have signed up Michael Lembeck
to direct Connie and Carla. The movie is being distributed
by Universal Pictures with filming due to start in May.

Nia Vardalos who wrote and starred in My Big Fat Greek Wedding
has been signed up by Spyglass Entertainment/Universal to
star in a project to be called Connie and Carla. Vardalos
has written the screenplay for the movie that will tell the
tale of two working-class dinner theater singers (one of which
will be played by Vardalos) who are forced to go undercover
in Los Angeles as drag queens. No word on a director as yet,
expected to produce are Rita Wilson, Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman.
