Wednesday
1st October 2003: Cursed Update:
Wes Craven’s Cursed will begin shooting again on November
17 after an
enforced break. Dimension and its parent company Miramax were
not pleased
with the film's original ending or how the special effects were
turning out,
which led to the film being put on hiatus. But the cameras should
start
shooting again soon, once an actor to portray a new lead character
in the
film has been found.
Monday
22nd September 2003: Cursed Update:
Samantha has been in touch to advise that Cursed is now being
planned for a
February 2004 release date in the US.
Thursday
11th September 2003: Cursed Update:
Director Wes Craven has been talking about his troubled werewolf
movie Cursed. Craven says that many of the film's scenes will
have to be reshot, and possibly recast, when the film resumes
production in November. He added that make-up guru Rick Baker
has retired, turning over responsibility for the film's werewolf
makeup to KNB. "I haven't seen that hit the news yet, but
he shut down his studio. All of the elements have been taken
over by KNB for us." Filming had been running for 11 weeks
when Dimension Films stopped production in June and ordered
a script rewrite. "Quite an extraordinary amount of new
material is going to be shot, and a lot of material is going
to be thrown away," said Craven.
Tuesday
5th August 2003: Cursed Update:
Director Wes Craven and screenwriter Kevin Williamson's Cursed
has run into
unexpected problems. Due out early next year, the studio put
the werewolf
movie on an extended hiatus last month with four weeks left
on the shooting
schedule. The hiatus was reportedly planned and concerned the
addition of
special effects because the filmmakers brought in more effects
shots than
originally planned. Putting a film's shooting on hiatus is not
an abnormal
thing for a studio to do, apparently. But top executives at
Miramax were
said to be unhappy with the film's ending, as well as being
none too
impressed at how the special effects were progressing, specifically
the look
of the film's lead lupine. The project was then put back into
a "development
phase," during which all parties could agree on the final
outcome. However,
all the kinks have now been worked out and a September restart
is being
eyed.
Friday
1st August 2003: Cursed Update:
Looks like the production of Cursed is having more problems
with the word
that FX guru Rick Baker has pulled out of the project 3/4 of
the way
through filming. It is though that KNB have jumped in to finish
off the FX
work on the movie. Either way it's not a good sign that signs
were going
smoothly on the project.

as they have apparently stopped production while a new ending
is worked up.

Monday 16th June 2003: Cursed Update:
Mandy Moore has been talking about her recently completed
role in Cursed "I really don't like horror movies in general
but the cast alone was
enough to grab my attention. it is amazing to see all of the
special
effects that go into this kind of production...lots of technical
elements are involved in the art of "screaming." hehe
" Thanks to Samantha!

Monday 7th April 2003: Cursed Update:
Just received the following information from the filming
of Cursed "along the pier they had numerous spot lights
lit up, lined with all kinds of foods, drink and crew members.
It was all blocked off near the roller coaster and farther down
towards the sand... They had parts of the sand blocked off...
there were two characters who stood on the pier and jumped off
onto the sand below- each at separate times-, a wire was attached
to the back and connected to a crane. They were dressed in black
jeans and a leather jacket similar to that of the 50's style
rebel look. Once they landed in the sand they would take the
stance of like a zombie or warewolf, looking around for something.
Then there was another scene where one of them was digging in
the sand, they started around 7 pm and I left around 9:30 and
they were still filming away. They took numerous takes of both
characters" Thanks to Cathy!

20th January 2004: Cursed Update:
Scott Baio has been talking about the mick-taking he has been
subject to filming Cursed "It's a werewolf movie with Christina
Ricci, and it was a chance to work with some good people. But
playing yourself is always fairly risky because you gotta watch
how you goof on yourself. You guys can make fun of me all you
want, but keep it to where it's not completely insulting. Whatever
you want to change, let us know."
Tuesday
16th December 2003: Cursed Update:
Wes Craven has apparently scrapped the first cut of his werewolf
movie Cursed and reshot the film almost from scratch. Eleven
weeks after shooting finished, director Craven called the cast
back to redo practically everything. Said star Christina Ricci:
"It's sort of like going on to another movie. And this time
it's a lot more fun. We have a lot more action and it seems
better. I don't think he was happy with what he was originally
getting." Ricci, who stars in the film with Shannon Elizabeth
and Portia de Rossi, added: "If you scrap an entire movie and
shoot it all over again, rewrite the script, then yes, it can
be saved." It's not much consolation for Skeet Ulrich, however,
who has been cut from the movie completely.

Friday
6th December 2002: Cursed Update:
Word has reached us from FilmJerk
of some of the plot details for Cursed "The lead character
is a 16 year old named Jimmy, described as a likeable guy, but
full of typical teen gawky awkwardness. He is smart, sensitive
and trying to come into his own. The other leads in the film
are Brooke, of the same age, who is the high school beauty,
who become his love interest and Bo, a year older, who is Brooke's
football jock boyfriend who makes trouble for Jimmy whenever
their paths cross. He is further described as being quite the
opposite of Jimmy and insensitive"
Wednesday
16th October 2002: Cursed Update:
Dimension Films have signed up Wes Craven and Kevin Williamson
to direct and write a movie to be called Cursed. Chairman of
Dimension Films Bob Wenstein had this to say "Kevin wrote
a fun, scary and surprise filled script just like the original
'Scream.' The only person I thought of to direct it was Wes
Craven, and I couldn't be more excited to team them up again
for what I think is another crowd pleasing thrill ride. In the
way they made scary movies fun, Kevin and Wes will reinvent
the werewolf genre." Cursed already has a release date
set of August 8th 2003 and will be set in Los Angelese and will
be a modern hip twist on the werewold genre. Producing Cursed
will be Kevin Williamson and Marianne Maddalena.
