The Da Vinci Code Updated:

Tuesday 6th September 2005: The Da Vinci Code Update:
Set pics for The Da Vinci Code were just received from Marcus...

I was lucky enough to stumble across filming at Temple Church, London on Wednesday. I went to visit the church after reading the book, and they were filming one of the scenes involving when Remy kidnaps Teabing, etc... This was the first movie set I have ever been too, so I was thrilled to get to see/hear it being done! I have pictures from the set and of Ian McKellen, Tom Hanks (blurry!), Paul Bettany (Silas), and the actor playing Remy. I also saw Audrey Tautou (Sophie), but didn't get a pic of her. She looked great though - straight brown hair with blue business looking top and skirt on.

The coolest thing was being able to hear some of the filming being done inside. The production staff would yell 'rolling' and then Ron Howard would yell '..and action!'. They were probably filming the scuffle coz there were lots of yells, etc. Filming ended around 5:45pm, and Tom Hanks basically flew out of the church, so the pics I have of him are rather blurry.... Ian McKellen stood around for a while, and so did Paul Bettany.

All the windows of the church bar the very bottom of the circular area were blacked out. There were lights shining in through these windows, and where there was no stained glass multi-coloured pieces of plastic were used to presumably create that effect inside. I know in the book it was raining for this scene, but I'm guessing it's going to be sunny for the movie. It was really hot the day of filming, almost 32C (about 90F) and clear, so maybe that is why. Or they want the effect of sun through stained glass on the floor inside the church? One of the production staff mentioned this was a way to control the light and keep it constant throught the day...

They were continuing filming today, September 2, but I am now back in the States...
