Dawn of the Dead Updated:
Wednesday
24th March 2004: Dawn of the Dead Update:
According to UK reports, Dawn Of The Dead movie posters
"should be taken down because they are scaring
youngsters". The Advertising Standards Authority
has confirmed that (the now collectible) poster, has
already received eight complaints since hitting the
streets March 22. Several posters have appeared on bus
stops and advertising boards, bearing the slogan: "When
there's no more room in hell, the dead will walk the
earth." Dawn of the Dead is the Toronto-shot remake
of director George Romero's 1978 horror film of the
same name and will be released in the UK with a restricted
18 certificate. Donna Mitchell of the Advertising Standards
Authority (ASA) said: "We are looking into the
complaints and will be assessing the poster". Before
posters are released, advertisers are advised to follow
the Committee of Advertising Practice (Cap) Code, but
are not bound to the Cap guidelines. If a complaint
is raised over an advertisement, the Advertising Standards
Authority is brought in to
investigate.

7th March 2003: Dawn of the Dead Update: Producer Richard P. Rubinstein
has been talking about the planned remake of Dawn of the Dead "The story
benefits from a larger canvas, and the fact that malls have changed so much. There
are all kinds of things we can use, down to the food courts. George did a lot
with a pedestrian mall in Monroeville, Pennsylvania, where the only real highlight
was a hockey rink". The new version will also put a "greater emphasis
on action and a young cast" though its expected much of the social satire
will be lost in the process. Snyder has worked only in commercials and recently
turned down helming duties on "S.W.A.T." because he wanted to make an
R-rated film."
 Thursday
6th March 2003: Dawn of the Dead Update: Commercials wizard Zack Snyder
has been assigned by Strike Entertainment to direct the remake of George Romero's
horror classic Dawn of the Dead. The production is scheduled for a June start
date, with the new version aiming to place a greater emphasis on action and a
younger cast than the original.
