27th February 2004: Deadpool Update:
Stax at Filmforce has been in touch with the following "In
a roundtable interview that took place earlier this week,
writer-director David Goyer confirmed IGN FilmForce's reports
that a film adaptation of the Marvel anti-hero Deadpool is
in the works and that he might be involved. IGN FilmForce's
Jeff Otto was in attendence; watch for detailed articles from
Jeff in the coming days.
IGN FilmForce
recently revealed that New Line Cinema is trying to broker
a deal to bring Deadpool to the big-screen with Goyer directing
and co-writing the script with comic book scribe Mark Millar.
Goyer's Blade: Trinity cast member Ryan Reynolds would portray
the title character.
"I
want to do something else with Ryan Reynolds because I really
loved working with him and New Line wants to do something
else with Ryan Reynolds and Marvel wants to do something with
Ryan because there aren't a lot of actors anymore that can
do credible action and be funny and that are also good actors,"
Goyer told reporters.
"Ryan,
I think, coming out of this movie and I know it's a lot to
say will sort of be like where Mel Gibson was coming off of
Lethal Weapon," the Blade and Batman screenwriter said.
"He can do it all. He never thought he could do action,
ever. And he was in here last week with his girlfriend and
I showed him some cut-together action stuff and said, 'Can
you believe that's you?' And he said, 'No, I cannot!' So,
Deadpool came up as a possibility. We would completely reinvent
it. We can't connect it to Weapon X or anything like that.
We'll see."
Goyer
also revealed that Mark Millar has "done no writing on
(Deadpool." As IGN FilmForce has reported, deals are
still being negotiated for Millar, Goyer, and Reynolds so
Deadpool is not etched in stone just yet.
Millar,
however, has denied being involved with Deadpool.
"Mark
is a friend of mine and wants to get into screenwriting and
we've talked about working on something together and Marvel's
talked about having Mark do something. When they first started
working on Iron Man, I made the executives in charge of Iron
Man read The Ultimates because I thought that take on Tony
Stark was a very cool take," Goyer explained.
"The
people at New Line know Mark because of that and it's somewhat
influenced their approach to Iron Man. They weren't ready
to let Mark write the script, but I'd like to do something
with Mark."

25th February 2004: Deadpool Update:
Stax at Filmforce has been in touch with the following info
on Deadpool "Forget Mark Millar's denial and those sites
that told you the Deadpool news IGN FilmForce first reported
was untrue. Sources close to the deal have now confirmed that
New Line Cinema is actively considering and talking to Marvel
Studios about a Deadpool feature with Ryan Reynolds to star,
Marvel to produce, David Goyer to direct and probably best
of all for comics fans Goyer and Mark Millar writing together.
Although Reynolds is perhaps best known for his comedic turns
in The In-Laws and Van Wilder, his work in Blade: Trinity
has apparently earned him high marks from both Goyer and New
Line."

Friday
6th February 2004: Deadpool Update:
The following interesting rumour on Deadpool has been sent
in " At the UK toyfair last week a mini bust company
have revealed they are in talks with Marvel to buy the license
to produce 5 Mini Busts based on Deadpool the movie. Three
busts already confirmed are Juggernaught (I remember Juggernaught
from the X-Men animated show, so I think the movie might be
an X-men spin-off), Deadpool and a Syrin mini bust. They also
had a few tidbits of news from there early coverage. Supposedly
the movie is gonna be an amaglam of two story's early in Deadpool's
career, to do with Weapon X, don't know exactly which stories
about though. Also an upcoming writer called Joe Kelly has
turned in a first draft, so the movie is in pre-production
right now. The busts are set for realese in autumn 2006. The
company is waiting on early costume designs to start production."

28th January 2003: Deadpool Update:
My name is Victoria, and I am a massive Deadpool fan, so I
try to stay up with gossip about the film. I have heard rumours
from some very dependable sources that Bruce Campbell and
Henry Rollins are both being considered for the part of the
Merc-with-the-mouth. As far as I have heard, most are considering
Bruce Campbell more then Henry Rollins. 'Thanks to Victoria'.
