Wednesday 9th April 2003: The Devil in the White City/
Untitled H.H. Holmes movie Update: Serial
killer H.H. Holmes, who stalked his prey at the 1893
Chicago World's Fair, is apparently the target of a
major development contest, with Tom Cruise in one corner
and Leonardo DiCaprio in the other. Paramount has optioned
The Devil in the White City, Erik Larson's bestselling
account of the case, for Tom Cruise and Paula Wagner's
Cruise/Wagner Productions. Kathryn Bigelow is attached
to the project to produce and helm. Meanwhile, Leonardo
DiCaprio's production company, Appian Way, is also developing
a film about Holmes and the World's Fair, in which DiCaprio
will star.
