Wednesday 18th February 2004: El Cid Update:
Scott B. Smith is set to pen a remake of the Charlton Heston epic El Cid for MGM with Arthur Sarkissian producing. The studio are after Goldeneye director Martin Campbell to helm. The epic follows Rodrigo Diaz de Vivar - "El Cid" to his soldiers - as he seeks to rid 11th-century Spain of its Moorish invaders.

Monday 3rd November 2003: El Cid Update:
Producer Arthur Sarkissian has sigend a deal with MGM to produce a whole pile of movies. Hi Dharma, he will produce with Mike Macari and Roger Garcia. Script by Don McEnery and Bob Shaw that is a remake of a Korean movie that followed a group of gangsters who take refuge in a Buddhist monastery.
Defiant Ones will be a remake of the 1958 movie with the script by Peter Iliff.
El Cid, again a remake with Martin Campbell directing.

producer Arthur Sarkissian has picked up the rights to remake the Charlton Heston classic El Cid. He has Martin Campbell attached to direct, no word if this will be the second movie in his two pic deal at MGM.
