7th September 2004: Fahrenheit 9/11 Update:
Director Michael Moore has revealed that he is not entering
Fahrenheit 9/11 in this year's Oscar's race for Best Documentary
Film, but interestingly he is entering it into the race for
Best Film. "I made the decision not to submit my film for
best documentary because, as I told my film crew, let's let
someone else have that Oscar. We already have a best documentary
Oscar." He added: "There have been so many great nonfiction
films this year, I felt, why not step aside and share what we
have with someone else? Remove the 800-pound gorilla from that
Oscar category and let the five films who get nominated have
all the attention they deserve (instead of the focus being on
a film that already has had more than its share of attention)."

2004: Fahrenheit 9/11 Update:
Michael Moore's Fahrenheit 9/11 has been given a R rating for
its US release, a decision that will be strongly contested by
the film's distributers Lions Gate Films and IFC Films. "It
is sadly very possible that many fifteen and sixteen years olds
will be asked and recruited to serve in Iraq in the next couple
of years," said Michael Moore. "If they are old enough
to be recruited and capable of being in combat and risking their
lives, they certainly deserve the right to see what is going
on in Iraq."

24th May 2004: Fahrenheit 9/11 Update:
The documentary Fahrenheit 9/11 from incendiary director Michael
Moore has won the Palm D'Or at this years Cannes film festival.
The controversial attack on George Bush's actions as President
has courted much attention recently but Moore still appeared
shocked when his name was announced by judge Quentin Tarantino.
"I can't begin to express my appreciation and my gratitude
to the jury, the Festival, to Gilles Jacob, Thierry Frémaux,
Bob and Harvey at Miramax, to all of the crew who worked on
the film," said Moore "I have a sneaking suspicion
that what you have done here and the response from everyone
at the festival, you will assure that the American people will
see this film. I can't thank you enough for that."

13th May 2004: Fahrenheit 911 Update:
Looks like peace may be anout to break out between Michael Moore

the distribution rights to Bob and Harvey Weinstein that will
allow them to take the picture to another distributor.
Tuesday
11th May 2004: Fahrenheit 911 Update:
Michael Moore has answered criticism that he was using the controversy
over Disney's refusal to distribute Fahrenheit 911 but crucially
he agrees that Disney refused to distribute the movie last year
"except that Disney kept sending us all that money [$6
million] to make the movie. Miramax [told me] there was no problem.
I got the idea that everything was fine." Responding to
Disney Chairman Michael Eisner's claim that Disney could not
distribute "a partisan political film that may offend some
of our customers," Moore observed that in 1998 Disney distributed
his own "very partisan movie" called The Big One.
As for the charge that his comments represented a publicity
stunt, Moore replied: "Let me tell you something: NO filmmaker
wants to go through this kind of controversy. It does NOT sell
tickets (I can cite many examples of movies who have had to
change distributors at the last minute and all have failed).
I made this movie so people could see it as soon as possible.
This is a huge and unwanted distraction." Since when has
PR hype of this kind and for a movie of this nature have ever
affected it? Getting the idea that all is fine is a lot different
from it actually being OK. Should Moore not have had a contract
drawn up for the distribution, I've never seen a movie released
that didn't have the distribution rights written up in a contract!

10th May 2004: Fahrenheit 911 Update:
Looks like Michael Moore may finally be getting some negative
publicity. Last week news broke that Disney had refused to distribute
Fahrenheit 911, his movie that examines the American Government
post 911, and Disney were apparently Disney was not keen as
it would upset Jeb Bush the gorvernor of Florida and cost them
tax breaks. But apparently Disney have never actually been onboard
to distribute the movie and Moore has known this for over a
year. This is a quote from Moore from a recent interview with
CNN "Almost a year ago, after we'd started making the film,
the chairman of Disney, Michael Eisner, told my agent he was
upset Miramax had made the film and he will not distribute it."
So was last week's news nothing more than a stunt to gain publicity
for his movie that will be premiered at Cannes in a fortnight?
If it was it's a great stunt. But does this fit in with the
spirit of what he is trying to achieve with the movie?

Monday 1st December 2003: Fahrenheit 911 Update:
Michael Moore has revealed some key details about his in development Fahrenheit 911 movie "The senior Bush kept his ties with the bin Laden family up until two months after Sept. 11...It (the new project) certainly does deal with the Bush and bin Laden ties, it asks a number of questions that I don't have the answers to yet, but which I intend to find out". The movie is being distributed internationally by Wild Bunch (France) and Miramax in the states with a probable release date in the US of November 2004, which funnily enough is round about the time of the US elections.
Monday
