Premise/Synopsis:

While exploring they dig up an ill tempered 8000year old Psammead (Sand

Monday 28th July 2003: Five Children and It Update:
Eddie Izzard is to provide the voice of an 8,000-year-old sand fairy in an
adaptation of E. Nesbitt's magical story Five Children and It. Also starring
in the film are Kenneth Branagh, Zoe Wanamaker and Tara Fitzgerald. Jim
Henson's Creature Shop will help create the magical world in which five
youngsters dig up a fairy who will make their dreams come true. The film
will be a combination of live action, animatronics and computer generated
animation.

Friday 25th July 2003: Five Children and It Update:
Filming on Five Children and It now looks more certain with the news that
Endgame Entertainment and Capitol Films have inked on to help finance the
movie. Starring in the movie are Eddie Izzard, Kenneth Branagh, Zoe
Wanamaker and Freddie Highmore. The movie will follow five city children
are sent to live with their slightly unusual uncle (played by Branagh) in
his old mansion during WWI. While exploring one day, the children discover
an ancient sand fairy named Psammead who's stuck in a gravel pit. Once
free, the fairy grants the kids a wish a day that will last until sunset.
The movie will be directed by John Stephenson.

Wednesday 14th May 2003: Five Children and It Update:
Director John Stephenson has signed up Kenneth Branagh, Eddie Izzard and
Freddie Highmore for a project called Five Children and It. The movie is
being produced by Capitol Films and Jim Henson's Creature Shop. Producing
are Nick Hischkorn and Lisa Henson, with the script by David Solomon.The
movie is based on the 1902 novel by Edith Nesbit that tells the story of
five kids sent to stay with their uncle in a strange house by the sea.
