25th July 2003: Freddy Vs Jason Update:
Robert
Englund has been talking about the upcoming Freddy v Jason.
Speaking
in a recent interview, when asked whether Freddy undergoes
a sort of
metamorphosis, the actor replied: “He has to go under
water because he’s in
some of Jason’s dreams, he is trying to find out what
makes Jason tick, to
get into his brain, find out what makes him the monster that
he is. I wind
up at the lake a lot. We shot the scenes in Canada at this
gorgeous lake, it
was like being in Switzerland. In the fall it got really cold
and then I had
to double on the gluing, so water wouldn’t get under
the make-up, they
didn’t want me looking like a balloon. That was pretty
rough because it took
forever to get that make-up off of me.”

has been talking about the upcoming Freddy Vs Jason movie "Jason and
Freddy are both in hell or something, and the people around Elm Street have
created an environment without Freddy. Freddy's memory is fading. If this
is the last movie, it's fine. But if it makes a bunch of money, you can be
sure there will be others."

Tuesday 22nd April 2003: Freddy Vs Jason Update: Just received an update
on what the plot (and I say again who cares what the plot is..give me gore!!!!)
"The movie starts on Elm St. The parents have been drugging the children
there with dream suppressants to keep them safe from Freddy. Powerless, Freddy
rouses Jason in the hopes that Jason will cause all new nightmares for the teens
there. Unfortunately Freddy quickly loses control of Jason when he starts killing
all of Freddy's intended victims. The teens caught between the two try to pit
them against each other. Thus Frddy and Jason will go at it." Thanks to BloodFan!

Monday 21st April 2003: Freddy Vs Jason Update: Robert Englund has been
talking about Freddy Vs Jason and also talks of more movies "We'll [director]
Ronny [Yu] would like to do a whole series of Freddy vs Jason movies. He believes
this is the start of a new series. If it happens, great. I think we will all be
back. We had such a great time on this movie, it's going to be far from a chore
to draw everyone back for seconds. Who knows maybe we might even see another solo
Freddy movie again, if that's what the fans want." He was then asked about
rumours of a prequel "That's the plan yes. Ronny has sort of taking on a
new surrogate father role to Freddy Krueger and Jason, so if any more solo movies
come along, he's already told the studio he wants first option on directing them.
I've always thought a Freddy prequel would be a wonderful idea, and now with Exorcist,
the time feels right. That would be great fun, if only because I'll only be in
make-up for like a quarter of the picture. Let's see how Freddy vs Jason does
first thought before we get too excited. But yes, it's definitely something Ronny
and I have been talking about"

Wednesday 2nd April 2003: Freddy Vs Jason Update: Katharine Isabelle who
features in Freddy Vs Jason has been talking about the movie and she's not that
thrilled "I hate to say it, but I was really expecting a little bit more.
It's just the same-old, same-old. There's nothing to it ? it's all about running
around and screaming, 'No, Freddy, don't!' I can't say too much about it because
I get really angry. My death scene is kind of gross. I guess that's what happens
in a Freddy vs. Jason movie."

Monday 17th March 2003: Freddy Vs Jason Update: Has the trailer for Freddy
Vs Jason been showing in front of Willard...it might have been "I was on
the Fangoria Message board. In one of the post " I just saw Willard "
I read that some have seen the FvsJ trailer in front of the Willard movie. This
could just be a joke, but one of them gave a pretty realistic description. Some
claim they saw Willard and saw no F vs J trailer. Is it possible that New Line
only released it to a few theatres to test it out?" Thanks to Slayride!

Wednesday 12th March 2003: Freddy Vs Jason Update: Freddy
Vs. Jason director Ronny Hu has been talking about the movie. He says New
Line was looking for a "director who's never seen an Elm Street or Friday
film" in order to start fresh. As for the relationship between Freddy
and Jason in the horror flick, he adds: "Freddy's scared of fire and Jason's
scared of water, which is as elemental as it gets. There's also a great
theme of revenge and not messing with someone's mother, because Jason goes
crazy when Freddy messes with his mother."

 Monday
9th February 2003: Freddy Vs Jason Update: Kelly Rowland has been revealing
some information on the upcoming Freddy Vs Jason "[That was] quite an experience,
'cause I don't even like horror movies. I was terrified on the set and Robert
Englund, who plays Freddy, would come up behind me with these big giant claws
on my shoulder and just do this, like, little finger tap."
 Friday

 Tuesday

about how scared she was during filming on Freddy Vs Jason "My brother used
to tease me about Freddy when I was a kid. At one point during filming we were
doing a scene where Jason throws someone out of the window and I was so scared
that I ran out of the room. By the time they finished I was halfway down the hall."

worth anything but i know that Kelly from Destiny's Child is in the film (Freddy
Vs Jason) she admitted it on cd:uk yesterday morning. 'Thanks to Paul'. Tuesday
31st December 2002: Jason vs Freddy Update: I've got a buddy that works
for a major talent agency in Hollywood and last year he got me two scripts that
he said were being considered for the new Jason VS Freddy movie. To me, it looks
like script # 1 is what they're actually filming. Here's how "baby Jason"
gets involved : Little Jason busts in on Mom (Mrs. Voorhees) in bed with, you
got it Freddy! Before he was condemned as the child murder when know him as in
A Nightmare on Elm Street. Jason turns out to be Freddy's 1st victim! It was Krueger
who nearly drown Jason at Camp Crystal Lake. Jason survives, but can only exist
in a rem-state that's much like a walking dream, they try to claim that he simply
isn't aware that all the murders he committed were real! The Screenplay is good,
but the writer tries to hard to make Jason a fatality of Freddy's, so that he
can easily become the sympathetic character needed to face Freddy at the films
end. 'Thanks to David'. and..... My father is helping on the
set of Freddy vs. Jason and also they are thinking of naming the movie The Friday
the 13th Nightmare. 'Thanks to Yolanda'. Friday
6th December 2002: Freddy Vs Jason Update: JoBlo.com scored an exclusive
interview with Robert Englund today which can be read here
Here's a few of the highlights, thanks to Berge for the info - Englund's description
of the film's style? "It's like some gorgeous, twisted, violent Dutch comic
book you know-- Asian, Cyber Japanese Cyber Punk, illustrated comic book with
Scorsese camera angles, Orson Wells camera angles and film noir style...it's REALLY
interesting! There's also lots of different colors plays, kind of like Paul Schrader's
style. It's just really a great classy, violent popcorn movie. I've been calling
it a gourmet popcorn that's spelled...G-O-R-E. Englund also dropped a hint about
"Freddy meeting baby Jason" in the film, and when prodded about how
many "old school" fans are afraid that the new film is basically gonna
sell out to the new generation, Englund replied: "Freddy is less funny (here)...and
there's more violence and more twisted shit in this film than in the last 4 Freddy
movies." Read the rest of the article and there is lots more at JoBlo Tuesday
26th November 2002: Freddy Vs Jason Update: I've heard from more than
one source that the Freddy Krueger and Jason Vorhees movie, Freddy Vs Jason, is
in the process of being re-titled. This guy's father is apparently working on
the movie, and he thinks he knows what the new title will be. My father
is helping on the set of Freddy vs. Jason and also they are thinking of naming
the movie The Friday the 13th Nightmare. Thanks to 'H'.
Now take that with a pinch of salt. We'll try to confirm or deny this as soon
as possible. Saturday
16th November 2002: Freddy vs. Jason Update: Robert Englund has been talking
about the currently filming Freddy Vs Jason "I always thought the real trick
of 'Freddy vs. Jason' [is that] you had to get into Jason's nightmares. We've
got to see what makes Jason tick. In this movie we get in there. And Freddy's
walking around in there, getting his feet dirty. And it's pretty sick stuff...Freddy's
at loose ends to get people afraid of him anymore, [because] if you don't dream,
Freddy can't hurt you. Freddy's trying to regenerate himself and he's using Jason
to instill fear in the relatives of the offspring of the original Elm Street vigilantes.
Freddy needs to manipulate Jason, and when he's in the dreams he can. What happens
is that Freddy creates a Frankenstein. ... Freddy kind of spoils him, gives him
a little too much dog food and he kind of turns on his master. And that's the
gist of the plot watching the carnage unfold as Freddy and Jason wreak havoc.
Now it's [like the TV show] 'Millennium' - serial-killer creepy. It's Freddy's
scrapbook. It's what Freddy was doing [in the boiler room] before they threw the
Molotov cocktails. I'm also going to do this scene right when he gets off with
the hung jury, when my lawyer gets me off" Monday
4th November 2002: Freddy Vs Jason Update: The first image of Jason Vorhees
from Freddy Vs Jason has been posted inline over at Creature
Corner. Hit the link to take a look. Monday
21st October 2002: Freddy Vs Jason Update: Actor Corey Feldman has revealed
that he has a small part in the upcoming Freddy Vs Jason. No other details but
that he may return as Tommy. Saturday
19th October 2002: Freddy Vs Jason Update: Director Ronny Yu has been
talking some more about the currently filming Freddy Vs Jason movie "The
action will be fast, pacing will be fast but it depends what you mean by Hong
Kong style action. Like Crouching Tiger, no. Definitely not because I think the
audience would be disappointed. You have two guys like flying everywhere? No,
no, no. But some very dynamic action, yes. I think that seeing less is better.
That's what Wes was telling Englund all the time. Seeing less is better, more
scarier. Wednesday
16th October 2002: Freddy Vs Jason Update: Ronny Hu has been revealing
some details of filming on the upcoming Freddy Vs Jason movie "Last night
was the first time I worked with Robert Englund. After we wrapped, he said, 'Ronny,
the way you make movies is different.' How do you mean different? 'Different from
American or European directors. You don't go the normal way like doing a master,
then coverage and da da da da da. You just say what you need and what reaction
you need, act scared and jump up.' I said, 'What's so different?'" New Line
wanted a fresh look to Jason, so we hired this guy from Vancouver who actually
doubled for Kane. Freddie's the same. I like to have a little bit of humor in
all my movies. It doesn't matter what genre. I need the audience when they're
sitting there to feel it's a fun thing. So that's why I insist in Bride Of Chucky
that they have a lot of fun, like humor, even though it's a nasty humor. Still,
you laugh and say, 'Ooh, that's nasty.' But still you laugh." Monday
14th October 2002: Freddy Vs Jason Update: It has been annnounced that
the stunt work on the upcoming Freddy Vs Jason is being coordinated by Chuck Jeffreys
who has previously worked on Spiderman and Blade. Saturday
12th October 2002: Freddy Vs Jason Update: Director Ronny Yu has been
talking about the controversy over the recasting of Jason in the upcoming Freddy
Vs Jason "I'm totally neutral because I don't know Kane and I'm not that
familiar with that franchise anyway, so for me it's just an actor. Whomever the
studio wants [is fine]. When I did Chucky, I didn't know anything about Child's
Play. That's exactly what the producers from Chucky and the producers from Freddy
vs. Jason want. They want a fresh angle, a director with a different style" Monday
30th September 2002: Freddy Vs Jason Update: Stuntman Ken Kirzinger has
been signed up to star as Jason Voorhees in Freddy Vs Jason. Also signed up have
been Katherine Isabelle, Brendan Fletcher, Gary Chalk and Lochlyn Munro. Monday
23rd September 2002: Freddy Krueger v. Jason Update: Upcoming Movies reports
that New Line Cinema will unleash a new horror flick onto silver screens sometime
next year. This slasher film will engage Jason Vorhees (Friday the 13th) and Freddy
Krueger (A Nightmare on Elm Street) in a gory battle inevitably centered around
teens, murder, and mayhem. Although Robert Englund will make his eighth confirmation
as Krueger, the search for Vorhees is still on. Directed by Ronny Yu ("Bride
of Chucky," "Formula 51"), additional cast members include Jason
Bateman, Lisa Wilcox and Destiny's Child member Kelly Rowland, among others. Tuesday
10th September 2002: Freddy Vs Jason Update: The Hollwood Reporter states
that Brad Renfro has left the project, but "Swimfan's" Jason Ritter
will replace him. Wednesday 28th August 2002 : Freddy Vs Jason Update:
More word on casting for Freddy Vs Jason with news that Lauren Lee Smith (TV's
Mutant X) has joined the cast. She says of her role "I'm
going to play a character named Gibb. Gibb is a really fun character. She's sort
of this tomboy, a party girl, really crazy and out there. And she doesn't quite
make it. [My scenes] are actually at a rave. It should be a really, really fun
part. I'm really excited about it. Friday
23rd August 2002 : Freddy Vs. Jason Update: More word comes in of Destiny's
Child singer Kelly Rowland's role in the upcoming Freddy Vs Jason. She will apparently
play one of a group of friends who spark off a battle between Freddy and Jason.
Filming is due to start on September 9th in Vancouver. Thursday
22nd August 2002 :Freddy vs. Jason Update: MTV announced today that another
member f Destiny's Child will make her movie debut. But this one is slightly different
from Beyonce's role in Austin Powers. Kelly Rowland has signed on to star in Freddy
Vs Jason! Tuesday
August 20th 2002: Freddy
Vs Jason Update:
More casting news for Freddy Vs Jason with the news that
Jason Bateman, Lisa Wilcox, and Brian Thompson are in discussions about taking
roles in the upcoming movie. No more word on who will play Jason yet. Monday
19th August 2002: Freddy
Vs Jason Update:
kane Hodder will not be returning as Jason in the upcoming Freddy Vs Jason movie
and this is what New Line had to say about it. First off Jason will be more sympathetic
(as sympathetic as a madman can be?) They are looking for an actor who "who
can emote pain and anguish over the loss of a loved one... [we're looking for]
someone with poetic eyes." The idea is to make Jason a "sad, pathetic,
Phantom of the Opera-type character".
20th May 2002: Freddy Vs Jason Update:
Creature Corner
report that Ronny Yu (Bride Of Chucky, The 51st State) is in talks to direct Freddy
Vs Jason for New Line Cinema. 24/4/02
This is a project that has been rumoured to be happening for ages now. With Jason
X now in the can and its release iminent, attention once again has shifted
to the possibility of combining Friday the 13th's Jason Vorhees with Nightmare
On Elm Street's Freddy Krueger in a feature entitled Freddy Vs Jason.
The film is based on a screenplay by Damian Shannon and Mark Swift, and Upcoming
Movies state that the film will see Freddy and Jason face off for control
of hell. No director has yet been attached. Those mentioned are the original
Blade helmer Stephen Norrington and fature debuter Rob Bottin. We assume
that the roles of Freddy and Jason will go to the actors that made them famous,
Robert Englund and Kane Hodder respectively. More
news on Freddy Vs Jason as we get it! Date
