Ghost Rider Synopsis:
In order to save his dying father, young stunt cyclist Johnny Blaze sells his soul to Mephistopheles and sadly parts from the pure-hearted Roxanne Simpson, the love of his life. Years later, Johnny's path crosses again with Roxanne, now a gogetting reporter, and also with Mephistopheles, who offers to release Johnny's soul if Johnny becomes the fabled, fiery Ghost Rider, a supernatural agent of vengeance and justice. Mephistopheles charges Johnny with defeating the despicable Blackheart, Mephistopheles's nemesis and son, who plans to displace his father and create a new hell even more terrible than the old one.

Sony have revealed the first look at the CG for Ghost Rider in a 10 second clip on the offical website. Not particularly high quality for the file, and really would have benefited from being a HD Quicktime file. Click Here to have a look for yourself.

Nicolas Cage's next movie Ghost Rider has just pulled itself out of the summer blockbuster race for next year. Sony has decided to move it to 16th February 2007, a whole seven months later. They'll be hoping that they can still make it into a big hit seeing as how the budget is $120 million.

Peter Fonda is in negotiations, and Donal Logue has joined the cast of "Ghost Rider" for Columbia Pictures. Fonda will play Mephistopheles, and Logue will play Mack, Johnny's main mechanic and best friend who spruces up Johnny's motorcycles for his stunts.

Thursday 10th February 2005: Ghost Rider:
Matt Long (Jack & Bobby) is in talks to play a younger version of the title character played by Nicolas Cage in Columbia Pictures' "Ghost Rider."

Friday 4th February 2005: Ghost Rider:
Out of Sight star Eva Mendes has landed a role opposite Nic Cage in the Ghost Rider comic adaptation.

Friday 21st January 2005: Ghost Rider:
Wes Bentley (American Beauty) will play the villain Blackheart in Columbia Pictures' "Ghost Rider," the comic book adaptation that stars Nicolas Cage and is being directed by Mark Steven Johnson. The Marvel Comics property focuses on a motorcyclist who makes a pact with dark forces, gets double-crossed, and fights enemies to protect the woman he loves.

Monday 17th January 2005: Ghost Rider:
Daredevil director Mark Steven Johnson has officially said that Nic Cage is official starring in Ghost Rider. Johnson is currently working on his own script after a draft by David Goyer.

Wednesday 22nd September 2004: Ghost Rider update:
In a chat with Nicolas Cage, Empire Magazine reveals that the story will be about Johnny Blaze (Ghost Rider) against Blackheart, the son of the devil. The film shoots in January.

Monday 10th November 2003: Ghost Rider Update:
Skye has sent in the following update on Ghost Rider "According to the latest updates on Ghost Rider, Nic Cage is very much attached to the film, as is Jon Voight. Although, there hasn't been any "official" signings yet, you can bet that Nic Cage will be Ghost Rider. As far as the production goes, you already know they have pushed back the start date to "sometime in 2004". Best guesses are all we can say. Look for a Fall 2004 production start, with a possible April-May 2005 release."

Kevin Feige has been talking about development on Ghost Rider "In a perfect world, we'd love to be shooting [Ghost Rider] early next year. Writer/director Mark Steven Johnson is halfway through his rewrite of the script and is coming up with spectacular stuff. Nicolas Cage is dying to do Ghost Rider. He's doing a movie called National Treasure as his next project, but after that he wants to do Ghost Rider. We're committed to him and he's committed to the movie. Now it's just a matter of timing."

Mark Steven Johnston has been talking about Ghost Rider " "He's a big fan
of the comic and thinks the premise lends itself to some really epic stuff.
It's the classic battle between good and evil and he thinks the time is
ripe for a Ghost Rider movie. He knows that there has been talk about a
Ghost Rider movie for many years, but he thinks that only now it is
technically possible to use the digital effects that will do the material
justice. However, even though the movie will be big on action, the main
focus will be on the love story between the main characters. He is halfway
through writing the script".

Jon Voight who is producing Ghost Rider has revealed that he may also be
cast as the villain in the movie. Nepotism anyone?

Monday 12th May 2003: Ghost Rider Update:
Director Mark Steven Johnston has revealed that work is just starting on
the script for the Ghost Rider movie adaptation. He also revealed there has
been some work already on Ghost Riders head as to whether it will be all CG
or partially CG. The reason he gave is that famles are difficult to achieve
in CG.

Friday 11th April 2003: Ghost Rider Update:
Daredevil director Mark Steven Johnson is busy coming up with a completely new draft for Ghost Rider. Apparently, David Goyer’s script has been scrapped. Johnson says he’s just sitting down to write the script now and he’s looking to incorporate more source material, from the comics, into the film. Johnson also confirmed filming will start next winter.

Daredevil helmer Mark Steven Johnson will reportedly direct Ghost Rider for Columbia Pictures, with Nicolas Cage set to star. Johnson will rewrite the script by Shane Salerno. The adaptation of the Marvel comic centres on a motorcyclist who inadvertently makes a pact with dark forces and must fight against them in order to protect the woman he loves. The film has been greenlit for a start in late 2003 or early 2004.

By making it hard R, you'd alienate some of those younger people who want to go to the movies and get lost in that world"
