1st October 2003: Gigli Update:
Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez's new movie Gigli is set to
be dropped by
every cinema in Britain after just one week on release. Critics
savaged the
movie as one of the worst films of all time, but when it opened
last Friday,
more than 70 UK cinemas still opted to screen it. However,
none of them are
said to be planning to show the film for a second week.

24th July 2003: Gigli Update:
Film
critics in the U.S. have slated the new movie starring Jennifer
Lopez
and fiancé Ben Affleck, labeling it a "total disaster.”
They said Gigli is
destined to be a box office flop after it left reviewers sniggering
at the
"laughable dialogue and ludicrous plot". In the
film, J-Lo plays a lesbian
assassin who is seduced by hitman Affleck. The couple fell
for each in real
life while filming the movie, but on screen, their sexual
chemistry is said
to be seriously lacking. In one scene Lopez tries to seduce
Affleck by lying
on a bed and telling him: "It's turkey time!" When
he asks: "What?", she
replies: "Come on, gobble, gobble". Another reviewer
said: "It was possibly
the worst line ever said in a movie." The film has already
undergone
extensive re-shooting after early previews showed audiences
found the ending
unbelievable. Gay rights groups are said to be incensed that
J-Lo's
character starts off as a lesbian but goes straight, thanks
to Affleck. It's Kevin Smith I feel sorry for as his Jersey
Girl movie will follow this in nine month's time, and could
that be rubbish as well?

Monday 27th April 2003: Gigli Update: Gigli has received an R rating for
sexual content, pervasive language and brief strong violence. Guess that means
there will only be about two people who will go see it now, down from three.

Monday 14th April 2003: Gigli Update: Gigli is now called Gigli again
after they thought better of calling it Tough Love, no one is going to go see
it anyway so why bother?

Gigli has been retitled Tough Love and will be released in the states on 1st August.

9th February 2003: Gigli Update: More information on why Gigli is having
scenes reshot. And it was all because the test audiences didn't like the ending
as it was too dark compared with the rest of the movie. Martin Brest is thought
to not have wanted to make the changes, but agreed to them. It is although thought
that Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck had been contracted to return for reshoots
without extra money. Pics from the reshoot can be found by Clicking

 Friday
7th February 2003: Gigli Update: Dark Horizons scored a great exclusive
about the reshoots for Gigli "I live on a bluff over Pacific Coast Highway
that looks directly down on the section of Will Rogers State Beach where of all
the re-shoots took place. I probably had one of the only views of the shoot because
security was very tight with the beach closed in both directions and the bike
path rerouted around the trucks. Here's what I saw: They began construction on
the sets on the beach on Dec.31, by Jan. 2 they had built 3 large thatched huts
on the sand. There were two medium ones and one very large one. So then the trucks
arrived, you've never seen so much equipment, the cost of all that stuff and having
the principal actors back must be close to $500,000 a day. Building the huts alone
required several bulldozers on the beach to build a sand bank so the ocean wouldn't
wash them away during high tide. Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez had their trailers
right up against a bluff that over looked the ocean, they had one hell of a view.
I watched them film now and then, I got to see Miss Lopez in a bronze/gold colored
bikini (woo-hoo!) doing some scenes with Ben and a lot of extras in and around
the huts. There is a scene where Ben arrives in a suit carrying a briefcase and
has some younger guy with him that seems be walking like he's mentally challenged,
they go up to again, bikini clad J.Lo (woo-hoo!) and do a scene which ends in
Ben taking off his suit to reveal he has a bathing suit underneath. They kiss
and run into the ocean together. They filmed for about three weeks and the main
crew left. Although there are still a few trucks there, maybe just in case they
need to go back again".
 Thursday
6th February 2003: Gigli Update: Major problems on Gigli with word that
director martin Brest wanted to reshoot 32 pages of his script for the movie,
with the studio only allowing him to reshoot 16 pages worth. He was given two
weeks to do this before Ben Affleck shot off to film Surviving Christmas but because
Brest is thought to be taking 25 takes they didn't manage this before Christmas.
They have now reconvened in LA to complete the filming. One of the major reasons
they are reshooting is that Ben Affleck's character died and test screening audiences
hated that.
 Tuesday
28th January 2003: Gigli Update: News reaches us that the production of
