G.I. Joe Updated:

16th March 2004: G.I. Joe Update:
Filmforce has been in touch to advise they have been
talking to G.I. Joe screenwriter Michael Gordon. Here's
a snip "Gordon assured us that the "G.I. Joe
movie is based on the 80's Joe characters. (Duke, Scarlett,
Snake Eyes, Destro, Baroness, Storm Shadow, Cobra, etc.)
Period." In other words, there will be no Joes
based on the classic 1960s characters, as DiBonaventura
whom Gordon praised as "a master producer"

30th January 2004: G.I. Joe Update:
Producer Lorenzo Di Bunaventura has signed up Michael
Gordon to write the script for the G.I. Joe movie that
is being developed at Paramount Pictures. Di Bonaventura
had this to say about the news "Hasbro reached
out to me, and they understand that you have to allow
a cinematic experience and not put constraints on what
could be done with the character, we've worked for three
months to create a narrative structure that works."

16th September 2003: G.I. Joe Update:
Lorenzo di Bonaventura has been recruited by Hasbro
to make a movie deal for action toy G.I. Joe. The producer
has secured the rights from the toymaker and this week
will pitch a live-action film based on a toy which has
been a staple of male American youth culture since 1964.

Monday 27th April 2003: G.I. Joe Update:
Further
to the rumour that Dreamworks looked to have signed
up to make a G.I. Joe movie it now appears they are
no longer interested in picking up the rights. It is
still thought that another studio is interested.

24th April 2003: G.I. Joe Update:
Hasbro are thought to be in talks with a hollywood
studio to sell the rights to G.I. Joe. The word circulating
is that Dreamworks are the front runners to bag the
rights.
