The actor will portray coach Don Haskins, whose integrated 1966 Texas Western team beat an all-white team from Kentucky. Haskins' team was among the first college teams to abandon slow-tempo offenses in favor of the high-speed style that dominates the game today.

The drama tells the inspiring true story of the underdog Texas Western basketball team, with history's first all African American starting lineup of players, who took the country by storm, surprisingly winning the 1966 NCAA tournament title. Josh Lucas stars as Hall of Famer Don Haskins, the passionately dedicated college basketball coach that changed the history of basketball with his team's victory in this time of innocence. Derek Luke, Austin Nichols, and Jon Voight co-star.

Ben Affleck has dropped out of Jerry Bruckheimer's Glory Road due to scheduling conflicts. Josh Lucas is set to replace him as Don Haskins, the Texas Western basketball coach who altered NCAA history when his all-black lineup of players won the championship in 1966. James Gartner directs.

James Gartner is to make the jump from commercials to movies with a script by Chris Cleveland that will see Affleck as a college basketball coach who led the first all-black lineup of players to the NCAA championship. The actor will portray coach Don Haskins, whose integrated 1966 Texas Western team beat an all-white team from Kentucky.
