Tomb Raider star Angelina Jolie is to star opposite Leonard Di Caprio in Robert De Niro's The Good Shepard. The Universal movie is an Eric Roth-scripted history of the CIA as seen through the eyes of a career agent whose marriage is destroyed by the stress and difficulties of the job. Jolie has been tapped to play the wife.

Tuesday 30th November 2004: The Good Shepard:
Matt Damon is to replace Leonardo DiCaprio in The Good Shepard from Robert De Niro and Morgan Creek. The story follows James Wilson, a Yale graduate recruited as one of the founders of the CIA. The character is said to be based on the legendarily shrewd but paranoid counterintelligence chief James Jesus Angleton. The story spans Wilson's 40-year career through the Cold War and details the emotional toll it takes on the man and his family. De Niro also directs and stars from a script by Eric Roth.

Friday 12th November 2004: The Good Shepard update:
Initial Entertainment Group will no longer finance The Good Shepard set to star Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro under De Niro's direction. The film, written by Eric Roth, is a history of the CIA, as seen through the eyes of career agent James Wilson. Universal remain commited but another finacier needs to be found.

Filming on The Good Shepherd is thought to be getting underway this October. The movie will be directed by Robert De Niro, star Leonardo DiCaprio and written by Eric Roth. The movie is being co-produced by Universal and Initial Entertainment Group. The movie will follow James Wilson, a Yale graduate recruited as one of the founders of the CIA. The character is said to be based on the legendarily shrewd but paranoid counterintelligence chief James Jesus Angleton. The story spans Wilson's 40-year career through the Cold War and details the emotional toll it takes on the man and his family.
