25th May 2004: The Greatest Game Ever Played Update:
TV's Michael Weaver is set to star in Disney's The Greatest
Game Ever Played, a true story that follows a golfer through
the 1913 US Open. John J. McDermott was the defending champion
at the event, who had no intention of letting leading British
golfer, Harry Vardon, take the championship. The two also competed
against Francis Ouimet, an amateur golfer from Massachusetts,
to be played by Shia LaBeouf. Mark Frost adapts from his own
book while Bill Paxton steps behind the camera to direct.

22nd March 2004: The Greatest Game Ever Played Update:
Disney are looking to sign up Shia LaBeouf to star in The Greatest
Game Ever Played as Ouimet, a 20-year-old golf amateur from
Massachusetts who shocked the genteel golf world by defeating
British champion Vardon, the inventor of what today is still
considered the modern grip and swing. Filming is being planned
for this summer.

Bill Paxton has signed on to direct The Greatest Game Ever Played.
The movie will be based on the true story of the legendary 1913
U.S. Open, in which 20-year-old Francis Ouimet shocked the golf
world by defeating British champion Harry Vardon.

Game Ever Played Update:
Producers Mark Frost and Larry Brezner are in talks
with Bill Paxton to direct the Disney project The Greatest Game
Ever Played. Frost has also written the script based on his
own book "The Greatest Game Ever Played: Harry Vardon,
Francis Ouimet and the Birth of Modern Golf." The book
tells the true story of the legendary 1913 U.S. Open in which
Ouimet, a 20-year-old golf amateur from Massachusetts , shocked
the genteel golf world by defeating British champion Vardon,
the most famous pro golfer of his time and the inventor of what
today is still considered the modern grip and swing.
