Latest updates on Halloween 9

Halloween 9 Updated :

Tuesday 27th January 2004: Halloween 9 Update:
Mark at HNR has been in touch with the following "The IMDB has updated the listing of Halloween 9 with Rick Rosenthal Directing. He's previously helmed Halloween II and Halloween: Resurrection and has lots of TV credits including Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Providence. And our well known tipster "Rick in Vancity" sends is the following. "There are some rumblings around here that Halloween 9 is set to film here in May or Oct with the possiblility of Jamie Lee Curtis to reprise her role. The script isn't complete that's why there's such a gap between the 2 dates"

hursday 2nd October 2003: Halloween 9 Update:
Don has been in touch with the following "While there have been rumors of just going ahead with a ninth movie in the Halloween series, such rumors have been trashed before. However, there is a new rumor going around. Apparently, Dimension is interested in having series creator John Carpenter come back and work on a remake of the original film, which would mean recreating all the characters for the modern audience. In other words, it's the same mentality that New Line is using for Texas Chainsaw Massacre. With this, there is the possibility that a new setting for the film could be created, to make it appeal more towards modern culture. Although many are opposed to the idea, one can argue that after the box office performance of Halloween: Resurrection, there isn't too strong a market for sequels to classic horror series right now, but maybe there is for re-makes. The performance of Texas Chainsaw Massacre next month will either confirm or deny that theory."

Monday 25th August 2003: Halloween 9 Update:
Shane has been in touch to advise that rumours are circulating that Halloween 9 is being planned for a summer 2004 release date.

Monday 28th July 2003: Halloween 9 Update:
This just in addressing earlier rumours on the next Halloween movie "As
lifelong fan and definite "buff" of the "Halloween" series, I have to warn
you to doubt the veracity of the comments in this update. Why? Because Rick
Rosenthal had nothing to do with part 4- that film was directed by Dwight
H.Little. Rosenthal directed "Halloween II" and "Halloween:Resurrection."

Tuesday 8th July 2003: Halloween 9 Update:
Just received the following email "A reliable source, from which I've
heard, said that Halloween 9 will be similar to Halloween 4. Apparently,
but not definately, Rick Rosenthal, director or parts 4 and 8, will return
for part 9 as well. Now I don't know how sure that is, but thats what I've
heard. Also, the girl who played Sarah in part 8 will be one of the leads
in part 9. The producer, Moustapha Akkad, is apparently going to bring
another Dr. Loomis character back into the loop. Halloween 9 is supposed
to go back to the original stalking the babysitter plot, but word has it,
the towns people of Haddenfield become more involved in hunting down the
serial killer. The script has been completely finished, but cast, crew,
and a production start date has yet to be announced. " Thanks to Devon!

Tuesday 24th June 2003: Halloween 9 Update:
Producer Moustapha Akkad has revealed that a storyline has been chosen for Halloween 9 and they are at work on a script right now. They are planning on a summer 2004 release.

Friday 29th May 2003: Halloween 9 Update:
Clint at Moviehole has heard from Dimension that they are still “hammering away on a script” let alone casting. Having said that though, we're told It should be ready for Summer 2004.

Monday 26th May 2003: Halloween 9 Update:
More RUMOURS received today on Halloween 9 "they have selected a final cast for the next untitled Halloween film. The cast includes: Sally Field, Brian Cox, Shawn Crawford, Maggie Smith, Katherine Issabelle, and Lindsy Booth. My realitive said that they just finished writing the scripts. Filming will start soon in Canada [ did not give me a place ] they are aiming for a January release for this film." Again I stress this is a RUMOUR until it gets a confirmation.

Friday 23rd May 2003: Halloween 9 Update:
Just received the following RUMOUR. And I do at this stage until I get more confirmation it is RUMOUR. "
My relative is part of the producing crew of Halloween 9. The information that was given to me was that it would be a different kind of Halloween film. It would take a look at what drove Michael to wanting to kill. The cast that he says they have right now is Sally Field, Shawn Crawford, and Brian Cox. They have not started filming yet but my relative says that they are still looking for cast members for this film and it is set to be released late 2004 early 2005." Thanks to T!

Wednesday 22nd January 2003: Halloween 4 Prequel Update:
Word reaches that a prequel to Halloween 4 is in development (and after that Halloween 9) that will close untied plot lines including baby Steven and Thorn.

Tuesday 19th November 2002: Halloween 9 Update:
'Hi, I recieved an e-mail from an unknown person stating that an actor by the name of Shawn Crawford will have a main role in Halloween 9. They said he lived in Lynchburg, VA and that this would be his first movie role', Thanks to Mmyers.
