Monday 7th July 2003: The Hulk Update:
The stars of The Hulk enjoyed a massive turnout at the film's UK premiere.
More than a thousand fans lined London's Leicester Square for the debut of
the Ang Lee movie. To grab a look at a few photos of the event click here.

Thursday 3rd July 2003: The Hulk Update:
Ang Lee says The Hulk could be one of last films he directs, because he's getting too old. He says he finds shooting movies so physically demanding he's not sure his body will be able to withstand the strain again. The famous director, who's 58, adds that it took him a year to recover from
filming Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. "When I go to bed, I often think I shouldn't do any more films. I'm getting older, so it's becoming more and more difficult,” he said in a recent interview. He added that he used to shoot one film after the other with only a few weeks in between. "Crouching
Tiger, Hidden Dragon was a turning point. It took me a year to physically recover. Sometimes at night, I feel very fragile. Then, when I get up, I think differently again. But I have to limit myself, because I know the next film can already be the one that kills me."

Thursday 29th May 2003: Hulk Update:
Cinematographer Frederick Elmes has revealed some key info on what we can expect of the Hulk
"The Hulk changes size during the movie. He starts at 9 feet tall, then he goes to 12 feet and then to 15 feet. His face also changes three sizes, and the audience will see him do it a couple of times on screen. His musculature changes, his color changes a little bit. So all of these things are built in as extras and I think they add believability to the character". Elmes also confirmed that during the editing phase they've done some 24-esque tricks with "multiple images on the screen at the same time, whether by showing both sides of a conversation simultaneously or the end of one scene overlapping into the next by wiping into the first couple of shots of the incoming scene".

Tuesday 27th May 2003: Hulk Update:
Eric Bana has been talking to Empire magazine in the new issue that comes out at the end of the month. Here's a taste where he describes preparation in watching a bare knuckles fight "I really didn't want to do it. It was just short of finding an illegal bare-knuckle fight somewhere. We had front-row seats , which was kinda grotesque but interesting. I was feet away from watching a guy semi-conscious with his head on the canvas, while a guy with bare knuckles was pounding into the side of his head. I think it was about pure, unadulterated rage. About being exposed to something very, very primal. There were some specifics that I wouldn't like to mention that Ang wanted me to pay attention to. Interesting, then, but not something I'm in any real hurry to see again."

Friday 16th May 2003: Hulk Update:
Executives at Universal could well be turning green with rage after test
screenings for The Hulk apparently left audiences distinctly underwhelmed.
Director Ang Lee’s melodramatic take obviously hasn’t gone down a storm as
hoped, with one exec reported to have said: “It's like he combined The Ice
Storm with Shrek." Oh dear.

Monday 27th April 2003: Hulk Update:
In a huge snub to Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, Marvel is planning on not crediting them in the Hulk movie. And why, money Stan Lee sued Marvel late last year over claims that Marvel was cheating him over profits Marvel made out of Spider-Man. There is apparently three weeks before the title credit will be locked down. I'm sure you know what you need to do. Email Marvel and complain. Lee and Kirby did create the bloody character after all!

Friday 24th April 2003: Hulk Update:
The credit for who actually wrote the script for Hulk has been settled on and it is "Screenplay by John Turman, Michael France and James Schamus. Story by James Schamus." The reason for this is that the project has had many writers over its extremely long gestation period until Ang Lee came on board and had to be decided by the Writers Guild of America.

Thursday 13th March 2003: Hulk Update:
Nick Nolte has been talking about his involvement in Hulk "I wasn’t interested in just doing a cartoon, and Ang came to the house and said, ‘Look, Nick, I don’t know how to do a cartoon, but I DO know how to make a Greek tragedy.’ So I said ‘If we go for a Greek tragedy, I’ll go for it.Because if we can present it of the magnitude of a Greek tragedy, a father/son tragedy, and if we do it right, there should be some element of compassion, maybe some pain".

Wednesday 12th March 2003: Hulk Update:
Stan Lee has been talking about filming his cameo in upcoming blockbuster
The Hulk. "They were filming in California, near where George Lucas has his
place, and I did my major scene, on which of course the whole movie hinges,
and it was a lot of fun. When I shot the scene, my little scene, he (the
Hulk) was supposed to be coming out of the sky and jumping down and landing
right next to me, and then taking off again, and I’m supposed to look real
scared and I was looking scared at nothing because there was no Hulk, he
will be added later. It was really funny, there was a man holding a long
stick and I was told to look at. The stick was about 10 feet high or so. I
was told to look at the top of the stick because that’s where the Hulk’s
head would be when he landed so I was acting scared.” Lee also confirmed he
won't be appearing in X2 because: "I don’t think I’m going to have cameos in
the sequels because I think that gets to be a little much. I’m hoping I can
have a cameo in the first movie of each character.”

Thursday 6th March 2003: Hulk Update:
Eric Bana has been talking about Hulk ""I originally went in and saw the Marvel guys about doing another superhero movie called Ghost Rider, a Spawn type character, and they were convinced I could do something they just didn't know what. Anyhow, I wasn't right for Ghost Rider so I actually audtioned for Daredevil for the role Colin Farrell ended up playing and then X-Men 2, wich was great because I did an audition with Hugh Jackman, and taught him a thing or two about acting (laughs), and then Hulk. And Ang Lee was sold on me and The Hulk seemed like the right movie for me, because it would be my first lead role in Hollywood and because the characters are so interesting."

The computer guys at ILM have been talking about what we can expect from the big green guy "It's a very complex challenge. It's hard to get the old
Lou Ferigno image from the TV show out of your head when you think of
the Hulk. We're used to seeing a bodybuilder in green paint. But the
Hulk is 15 feet tall and glows green from gamma radiation. There's a
lot of pressure to get him right. He has to work or the movie doesn't
work. The audiences will be the judge."

Monday 20th January 2003: The Hulk Update:
Director Ang Lee has been talking about what we can expect from the CG Hulk "I didn't want a big, lumbering dinosaur...I wanted swiftness. I wanted Jackie Chan in Arnold Schwarzenegger's body."

Friday 17th January 2003: Hulk Update:
Word reaches us what you can expect from the trailer for Hulk during the Superbowl and apparently the Hulk will resemble the Jack Kirby creation from the characters first set of stories with the footage of him crashing through floors and in San Francisco and jumping out of underground passages, picking up an army tank and throwing it about.

Word has reached us of how we will first see Hulk appear in the upcoming Ang Lee directed movie. Banner wil be trapped in a watery tank called the Containment Unit wearing a scuba mask and purple trunks. He starts to nod his head, then shakes violently, opens his eyes and changes into the Hulk for the first time.

Wednesday 16th October 2002: Hulk Update:
Eric Bana has been talking about the upcoming Hulk movie "I think Ang's very specific vision [for The Hulk] is buried deep in his head. It was fascinating to work on because all you could do was have complete and utter confidence in what he was wanting...just surrender yourself to it, and that's what I loved about it. It's a stylised piece of work with elements that are obviously extremely deep, and deeper again because a lot of it is in his head – and not all of it is he able to communicate to you – or would want to. So it's a very scary and thrilling experience; you have to relinquish all your control to this auteur. But the man is a genius...I knew it would have a lot more elements than people would be expecting. So in that sense I wasn't surprised. You had to work extremely hard in every facet. Ang's a perfectionist and he has a very determined vision. We all worked hard – not just hours, everyone works long hours, but in intensity. The level of intensity was extreme. He made me dig deep and go places that I found pretty uncomfortable – but I'm weirdly attracted to that, so that is fine by me"

Some information has been leaked for what will be found on the official website for Hulk when it's ready. One section will focus on how Hulk can change from Bruce Banner into Hulk. Director Ang Lee had brought in scientists to help base the change in reality and this should form the basis for that section of the site.

Saturday 12th October 2002: Hulk Update:
Eric Bana has been talking about his role as Hulk in the upcoming Hulk comic book adaptation and it has been revealed that Dave O'Neil is playing Bana's double during the transformation into Hulk.

Monday 7th October 2002: Hulk Update:
Lou Ferrigno has revealed that Hulk will say only one word in the upcoming Hulk movie. Start taking bets now on whethere it is "Smush!"

Thursday 19th September 2002: The Hulk Update:
Writer Michael France has been talking about his first draft of The Hulk movie script "My approach was that I wanted to deal with Banner's psychology, and that's held up throughout what they're shooting right now. I see him as a guy who had problems with anger even before he got that gamma ray shower, a guy who had an abusive father so he worries about what happens when he loses his temper. He really has problems after he gets his Hulk problem bestowed on him. You have to find a way to make a comic book character like the Hulk more human or else you just have a Saturday morning cartoon. It's just a monster-in-the-street movie"

Friday 23rd August 2002 : The Hulk Update:
More word has been received today on the rumors last week that The Hulk character design was still up in the air. Producer Kevin Feige had this to say "
There had been many different incarnations of what the Hulk should look like. We all decided which one we liked best and that is what we and ILM have been working on for months. In fact, we have just seen some things that would make your jaw drop."

14th August 2002 : The Hulk Update :
Word is that we might have to wait a while on seeing an actual Hulk head shot. And the reason for this? The look hasn't been decided on yet, and they are still working on what look to go for. This has affected filming as well with Jennifer Connelly having to act alongside a cardboard "Hulk Head"

24th June 2002: The Hulk Update:
Oh my God! Talk about keeping things real. Ang Lee is really gonna need an R rating for The Hulk isn't he. And why? Well news comes in today that he is planning on The Hulk, instead of as always keeping his shorts on, being in the NUDE! This news came in via Universal and this is what they had to say about it: ''Ang made a creative choice...to have him naked. It's like he's first born...he's posed in a way that's not revealing. Obviously, we're not having frontal Hulk". Well maybe not a R, maybe just a little P ?

22nd May 2002: The Hulk Update:

12th April 200 Hulk Updated
Just received an email from a scooper named Alice who sent in news that one of her calendars will be used in Bruce Banner's lab in the upcoming Hulk movie. Small news according to Alice, but news none the less,

"Well this is only a microscopic scoop to you, though it's a big one to
me. 3 weeks ago Universal Studios contacted me to ask if they could use
my fractal calendar in the Incredible Hulk movie. I signed an agreement
and faxed it to them. My calendar will hang in Bruce Banner's lab. I know
this is peanuts, but hey, I'm the only one *I* know with a contract with
Universal Studios! :) I am so glad to see that the movie is going to be
so very interesting. I wonder if there's an Oscar for Best Appearance by
a Calendar in a Motion Picture...?--Alice"

Thanks Alice, and to see the calendar in question, please visit her site.

27th February 2002 Hulk Updated
Eric Bana has been discussing his lead role in The IncredibleHulk to Empire in their April issue, due to hit stores on March 1st.

'I think the Hulk is the only reluctant superhero,'
Bana tells the magazine. 'Superman puts on the cape, Spider-Man puts on the suit and Batman goes into the cave, but The Hulk has no control and for me that's an awesome prospect.'

He also states that, 'The Hulk is not the size of a human being, I play both but I can't say how we do that. I'm meant to look like a scientist though,"' which sounds as if the Hulk will be created using at least a little CGI as previousley thought........

5th February 2002 Hulk Updated
It's been rumoured that The Hulk will totally destroy one of the US's biggest landmarks. SuperheroHype reports, "There are some surprises in store for you. How does twisting the Golden Gate bridge into a pretzel sound?"

10th December 2001 Hulk Updated
Ten months since we last updated the page, so a lot to catch up on. Eric bana is attached to star in he lead role of David Banner and Jennifer Connelly will play Betty Ross in the film, directed by Ang Lee. Recently, Connelly spoke with SciFi.com about why she decided to take part in The Hulk,

"I asked [Ang Lee] why he wanted to make The Hulk, and he said, 'Well, it's really a Greek tragedy. It's actually a psychodrama,' He talks about the rage inside all of us, he talks about fathers and sons, and he's talking about using a heightened format to get at something really profound that is otherwise more difficult to access. So, I'm hearing it like Brechtian theater. "It's really interesting and ambitious. He's not talking about a guy running around in green tights and a glossy fun-filled movie for kids. He's talking along the lines of tragedy and psychodrama. I find it interesting, the green monster of rage and greed, jealousy and fear in all of us." (appeared at SciFi.com)

Eric Bana, star of this years Chopper had this to say a while back when he was first cast in the movie;

"I am absolutely blown away. The Incredible Hulk was one of my all-time favourite TV shows as a kid. I play both Bruce Banner and the Hulk but I can't tell how it happens". (from The Sunday Herald Sun and TV's The Panel).

Bana also spoke with AICN about the project;

"It's directed by Ang Lee- the guy who did Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon and The Ice Storm". Bana continues "I play Bill Bixby's character the mild manerred Bruce Banner and the psycopathic Hulk." Adding, "Yeah Psychotic again", refering to his role in "Chopper". "It's a big secret" is all Bana would say about how his character would turn into the Hulk. "It's filmed in L.A, and I will be there for six months of next year doing that". (appeared at Aint It Cool News).

Bana did let a little more slip on an Australian TV show, reported by Coming Soon;

"The only thing he mentioned would be that it was Ang Lee direction, based on the TV series, but this time being chased from town to town by the military over an incident involving an innocent, small child injured by the HULK is what I have heard, not this space bizzo (business, excuse my Aussie)". (originally appeared at Coming Soon).

More news as I get it.

7/3/01 - Ang Lee has confirmed that work (shooting) on the Hulk movie won't start until after the actor's strike, although it seems that locations have started to be scouted. (From Coming Attractions) 'We're told that Hulk producers scouted the Lawrence Berkeley Lab today looking for suitable locations that had a "scary looking science stuff" feel to it.'
