21st September 2004: I Dream of Jeannie update:
Several names have been rumoured for the starring role in Gurinder
Chadha's adaptation of I Dream of Jeannie. Jennifer Garner and
Elisha Cuthbert have been mentioned as well as Keira Knightly
who worked with the director on Bend it Like Beckham. In an
interview with the Daily Telegraph Chadha said she'd be exploring
the roots of the character "She's a Muslim girl, and the
story is about Muslims." The script from Cormac and Marianne
Wibberley follows a young woman's quest to become a soldier
that earns her the punishment of being stuck in a bottle and
sentenced to serve the first person who finds her.

2004: I Dream of Genie Update:
Freaky Friday's Lindsay Lohan has signed up to star in the big-screen
adaptation of TV's I Dream of Genie. Gurinder Chadha directs
a script from Cormac and Marianne Wibberley for Columbia Pictures.

13th February 2004: I Dream of Jeannie Update:
Rumours are circulating that director Gurinder Chadha is in
talks to helm the big screen adaptation of I Dream of Jeannie.
The script for the adap has been written by Cormac and Marianne
Wibberley. Keira Knightley has also recently been rumoured for
this project and would be a dream reateaming for the Bend it
Like Beckham pair.

10th February 2004: I Dream of Jeannie Update:
Rumours are circulating today that hot Brit actress Keira Knightley
is being considered for the lead role in I Dream of Jeannie.
No confirmation on this, but it's sure as hell better news than
the news that Jessica Simpson was being considered for the role.

Jessica Simpson’s recent claim that she would be starring
in the film
adaptation hit TV series I Dream of Jeannie likes like it might
have been
slightly liberal with the truth. A studio exec at Columbia Pictures
is
reported to have said: “We're talking with a wide range
of actresses and not
negotiating with anyone."

feature a cameo appearance by original "Jeannie" star,
Barbara Eden as a department store make-up saleswoman.

16th October 2003: I Dream of Jeannie Update:
Jessica Simpson has apparently revealed that she has
been talking to
Columbia Pictures about starring in a feature remake of I Dream
of Jeannie.
The original 1960s comedy series starred Larry Hagman as Captain
Anthony
Nelson who discovered a mysterious bottle after getting stranded
on a desert
island. He opened it and released genie Jeannie (Barbara Eden)
who he takes
back home after getting rescued.
