22nd September 2004: Indiana Jones 4 update:
George Lucas in a recent interview with Empire Magazine revealed
that the a new writer is working on "the next script"
for Indy 4 and that he and Steven Spielberg will wait until
they are satisfied with the script before doing anything. He
says: "We are working on the next script. Another writer
has started working on it. We're just not
going to make it unless it's really good," he confirmed.
"One of the reasons I'm able to work with Steven so well
is because every time we come to a disagreement we'll yield
to the other one, which means we'll come up with a compromise
that considers both sides, and one person isn't determined to
have his way. It's what's best for the movie."
Wednesday

Lucasfilm have confirmed that the rumours that Stuart Beattie

Monday
29th March 2004: Indiana Jones 4 Update:
Rumours are swirling that writer Stuart Beattie has been signed
up to rewrite the script for Indiana Jones 4, with plans on
still releasing the movie in 2005. Does this mean that Frank
Darabont's script didn't need that much work done on it after
all, if they are still looking at such an early release as they
would need to film the movie this summer at the latest.
Monday
16th February 2004: Indiana Jones 4 Update:
Writer Frank Darabont has recently been explaining rumours as
to why the Indy sequel has hit a brick wall...
"The
short and simple version of the Indiana Jones 4 situation is
that after more than a year of working closely with Steven Spielberg
developing the story, I had completed a screenplay that Steven
loved and was hoping to shoot in July of this year. However,
George Lucas had issues with the script and slammed on the brakes
in order to rework the material himself. There is talk of enlisting
another writer. Given that George is the producer, but even
moreso because of their long and close friendship, Steven is
deferring to George in this situation.
It is now
up to them to try to find a common ground regarding the film.
I wish them luck and hope their efforts result in something
they're both excited about shooting. What, if anything, might
remain of my work at the end of the process is anybody's guess,
assuming the film even gets made at this point. As for me, I'm
disappointed, but I'm putting the experience behind me and moving
on with my life and my own projects."
Thursday
5th February 2004: Indiana Jones 4 Update:
The much anticipated Indy 4 has been delayed once more, Harrison
Ford ain't getting any younger guys! George Lucas is said to
have been unhappy with Frank Darabont's script so another writer

Friday
30th January 2004: Indiana Jones 4 Update:
Frank Darabont has revealed that he has completed work on the
script for Indiana Jones 4 "I've finished my work, so now
it's in the hands of God, or Spielberg and Lucas if you prefer."
Wednesday 26th November 2003 Indiana Jones IV Update:
Pre-production is reportedly underway on the fourth Indiana Jones film. Artists have apparently started work on story boards and concept artwork for the film. Filming is set to start sometime in 2004, either in June or late summer. The latest word on the release date is that is will hit cinemas sometime from May to December 2005.
Tuesday 18th November 2003: Indiana Jones IV Update:
Producer Frank Marshall has been talking about the fourth Indian Jones movie. "It's going to totally be in the style and the tone of the first three," he said in a recent interview. "I mean, we're not going to do anything different. We're not going to try and change things or modernize things. We're going to stick to what works, and we're probably going to be in the 50s. So, we're acknowledging that we're all a bit older and that's about all I can tell you, except that Frank Darabont is writing it." To rad more of the interview click here.
Monday 27th October 2003: Indiana Jones 4 Update:
John Rhys-Davies and Kate Capshaw have been talking about Indiana Jones 4.
Rhys-Davies, who played Indie's faithful friend Sallah in the first and
third films, said he would love to reprise the role, but that the project
hinges on Spielberg, Lucas and Harrison. "None of these guys are in it for
the money, anymore," he said. "If they're doing it at all, it's got to be
better and more remarkable than any one of the Indiana Jones films before.
And that's a pretty tall order." Spielberg's wife, Capshaw, was coy about
the future. "There is a lot of demand for a 4, and no doubt a 5, 6, 7 and 8.
I think George would just make as many as [Harrison and Spielberg] would
like," she said. "As long as you have those two guys interested, there will
be another Indiana Jones.”

LucasFilm. To take a look click here.
Wednesday 10th September 2003: Indy 4 Update:
Producer Frank Marshall has been talking about the next Indy movie. He hopes to keep a "B-movie feel" about Indiana Jones 4, due to start filming next year and open in theaters on the July 4th holiday in 2005. Marshall said that he expects to avoid loading the film with computer effects. "One of the things I enjoy about these movies is that they do recall the old cliffhanger serials of the '30s and '40s," said Marshall. "We didn't have computer effects in those days, we couldn't easily erase things and I think one of the unfortunate by-products of the computer age is that it makes filmmakers lazy. You become more creative. In Raiders of the Lost Ark, that's a real ball rolling behind him so Harrison really is in some danger running in front of that; these are real situations and that adds to the excitement and the creative energy on the set."
Monday 1st September 2003: Indiana Jones 4 Update:
Scriptwriter Frank Darabont has been talking about Indiana Jones 4, without
giving too much away. “I'm sure you understand that the project right now is
top secret,” he said in a recent interview. “I promised Steven Spielberg and
George Lucas that I was not going to reveal any specific detail regarding
the story. All I can tell is the same things that have been published
already. The story takes place in the 50s, Harrison Ford will play Indy
again, and Sean Connery will reappear as Indy's father. Steven will be the
director and George Lucas will be the producer. Shooting will begin in July
2004 and the film will open some time in the summer of 2005.”
Friday 29th August 2003: Indiana Jones 4 Update:
More news from Harrison Ford about Indiana Jones 4. The actor has said that
shooting should start in the late summer of 2004. When asked if the fourth
film will be shot in the UK again, like the previous three Indy films, Ford
stated that it is likely the majority of the shoot will take place in the
United States.
Thursday 28th August 2003: Indiana Jones IV Update:
Harrison Ford has reportedly said that the fourth Indiana Jones film is
still on for a 2005 release date. Speaking during a recent promotional event
for Hollywood Homicide he commented: "There is a script in preparation for
Indiana Jones 4. It's come a long way. If we can get to be happy with the
progress of the script we'll start shooting in the summer of 2004." As for
returning to the role after 15 years he added: "I'm delighted to get back to
that character and work with Steven Spielberg again. I'm delighted to
revisit Indiana Jones."
Monday 11th August 2003: Indiana Jones IV Update:
Frank Darabount has been talking about the script for Indiana Jones IV "I
absolutely don't want to do things like having him say, 'I'm getting to old
for this s---, I don't want to be slipping and sliding in cliches. This
character is no longer in the 1930s. He has to age honestly. He's got to be
in the 1950s."
Wednesday 17th July 2003: Indiana Jones 4 Update:
Executive producer Frank Marshall has revealed that Frank Darabont is still
writing the script for Indiana Jones 4. The filmmakers are making sure that
the sequel lives up to the franchise. "It's basically the same kind of story
that we had in the first three movies," he said. "It's up to us to maintain
the integrity of the project. That's why it's taking a long time on the
script. We want the story to be good enough."
Wednesday 9th July 2003: Indiana Jones 4 Update:
Frank Darabont has been talking about Indiana Jones 4 "I'm the world's
biggest Indiana Jones fan. I'll trip all over myself to work for
Spielberg." Executive Producer Frank Marshall has also chipped in "Frank
understands who the characters are. {Indy doesn't} need to team up with a
young buck for the next adventure. We're sticking with Indy on his own. He
still gets around pretty good."
Thursday 3rd July 2003: Indiana Jones 4 Update:
LucasFilm have commented on the rumour that Speilberg isn't directing Indiana Jones 4 "There is no truth to the rumor." Now things must be quite far ahead if they are prepared to comment at all, so is Indiana Jones 4
almost ready for filming?
Wednesday 2nd July 2003: Indiana Jones 4 Update:
Steven Spielberg is reportedly not going to be making a fourth Indiana Jones film. Sean Connery apparently spilled the beans during a recent press junket for The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. All I know is that someone called the office and said that Steven was not doing the movie, he said. That Harrison had in fact verbally agreed to do another one and would I be interested? And I said of course I would. I had a very good experience with him. [I was] disappointed to hear that Steven wouldn't be doing it, but in the end it all comes down to how good the script is, if it's really workable. The obvious question now is, who will take over behind the camera once Frank Darabont has completed the script?
Friday 6th June 2003: Indiana Jones 4 Update:
A WILD and I personally think it's rubbish, rumour is circulating today that the filming for Indiana Jones 4 is being scheduled for THIS August.
Tuesday 3rd June 2003: Indiana Jones 4 Update:
Harrison Ford has been talking about the progress on Indiana Jones 4 "Steven [Spielberg]'s quite happy with it. I'm expecting to see it in a couple of weeks. The way the process works is that George and Frank work together, then Steven gets the script, then I get the script, and we all work together. We all met together and talked about it before they started writing."
Monday 2nd June 2003: Indiana Jones 4 Update:
Harrison Ford and Steven Spielberg briefly mentioned Indiana Jones 4 during
the actors recent celebration to mark the unveiling of his star on the
Hollywood Walk of Fame. "We're about to launch production next year on
Indiana Jones 4," revealed Spielberg. But after the ceremony, Ford was a
little more guarded. "I don't know anything about it except that Steven's
very enthusiastic," he said. "He's got a period of time to work on the
script before I see it. So I should see it in a couple of weeks." Does that
mean a new film is a definite goer? "I can't say that until I read it," Ford
added. "But it feels like a go to me."
Friday 9th May 2003: Indiana Jones 4 Update:
News reaches us that Vic Armstrtong, fabled stunt coordinator on the Bond movies and also the first three Indy movies has been told to keep next Summer free for filming in Indy 4.
Tuesday 6th May 2003: Indiana Jones 4 Update:
Composer John Williams has been talking about his work on two forthcoming
blockbusters, Indiana Jones 4 and Star Wars: Episode III. Regarding the
fourth Indy adventure he says: "Indiana Jones will be a challenge because
we'll now have to recast the film with Harrison Ford as a mature Indiana
Jones, if you like, and a more mature composer will be doing the score!
Until I see a script or see the film it will be hard for me to tell how much
of the early material will apply, if any. As for that familiar fanfare: "I
would have thought Indiana Jones is now a pretty well-known theme and at
least will be referred to as some type of memory trace if nothing else."
Then theres the small matter of that Star Wars film: "I am looking forward
to bringing all the thematic fragments together in the final episode and to
pick up what opportunities it'll have for new material, also to sort of
round out a whole corpus of musical themes that are all interrelated and
connected."
Monday 7th April 2003: Indiana Jones 4 Update:
Harrison Ford has announced that he's not taking on any new projects until
Indiana Jones 4 starts production. "I'm taking some time off and then I'll
get ready for Indy 4 in 2004, he told an American magazine. We have a
great storyline. Spielberg will direct, and it will be as good as any of the
others we've made. Maybe even better!"
Friday 7th February 2003: Indiana Jones 4 Update:
Looks like things are starting to move fast on the Indiana Jones porject with news that Harrison Ford has a free slot to possibly film Indiana Jones 4 THIS SUMMER! Naturally this will all depend on Frank Darabont finishing the script that he is still working on. Speilberg is also thought to have a clear slot so ya never know!
Monday 27th January 2003: Indiana Jones 4 Update:
Steven Speilberg has been talking about the script and state of play on Indian Jones 4 "We've finished our meetings. It's a completely mapped-out story, as mapped-out as what George, Larry Kasdan and I first mapped out with Raiders Of The Lost Ark, Frank Darabont has gone from lip service to pages. He's now doing what most writers hate to do... which is write. It's a very exciting movie." Also he announced that the movie will be shot on film, not digitally.
Friday 13th December 2002: Indiana Jones 4 Update:
Steven Speilberg has been doing the press rounds for Catch Me If You Can and he has announced that Indiana Jones 4 is go! Tuesday 22nd October 2002: Indiana Jones 4 Update:
Harrison Ford was interviewed by Jonathan Ross of BBC's Film 2002 last night, where the actor all but confirmed the fourth Indiana Jones movie. "George Lucas and Frank Darabont are working on the script right now. We're just waiting to see if the script is up to scratch". And here's the clincher "Steven Spielberg and I have set aside time in 2004 to make the movie".
Tuesday 15th October 2002: Indiana Jones 4 Update:
John Williams has been revealing what films he will be working on in the near future and they include "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban is definitely in my future. Star Wars Episode 3 will follow that, which I'm very much looking forward to doing. It's like the completion of an epic journey. Then I'm back with Steven Spielberg for the fourth Indiana Jones, an exciting project that seems to have attracted incredible interest. Steven has also expressed his desire for me to score the next Jurassic Park film, which he is developing presently. It's a genre I would just adore to revisit, so I'll do my best to be available for it."
Monday 7th October 2002: Indiana Jones 4 Update:
Harrison Ford will be interviewed by Jonathan Ross on Film 2002 on BBC1 on the 21st October. And it's a must watch, and why, well he reveals he is considering starring in Indiana Jones 4 NEXT YEAR!
Friday 4th October 2002: Indiana Jones 4 Update:
Harrison Ford has been talking about the much rumoured Indiana Jones 4 movie. He had this to say "There's a scene where a lot of Indy's ex-girlfriends show up. It's probably going to be the best scene in the movie. With Indiana there wil be different aspects his character that we're working on. We'll see him in the 50's in America, or at least for part of the film and I think that's an interesting opportunity there. We want to preserve the spirit of the original but I hope we have some good jokes in there about it being older. It was always as much fun for the audience to see me get beat up as it was to see me beat somebody up. That's kind of unique."
15th July 2002: Indiana Jones 4 Update:
Frank Darabont has revealed a little more about the Indiana Jones 4 script that he is writing for George Lucas and Steven Spielberg. He told Sci Fi Wire that Indy's final adventure will be set in the 1950s to accomodate the age of actor Harrison Ford, who is 60. He also said that the script will contain many cool villains. He'll be adding his own ideas to the script, but revealed that he will stick to what both Lucas and Spielberg want too.
"It winds up being a pretty good collaboration, a good exchange of ideas,"
"At the end of the day, I'll be writing what [Lucas and Spielberg] ask me to. I'll be giving them the story that they want, so in that sense, I'm an employee. But a very excited and engaged employee. And what a fun project to work on."
The release date looks to be arounf 2005, when Ford will be 63!
27th May 2002: Indiana Jones 4 Update:
MTV have been talking to George Lucas about Indy 4, and he had the following to say,
"I'm working on a story right now," Lucas said, "I've got something that both Steven Spielberg and Harrison Ford like.
"We're in the process of hiring a writer, and hopefully we'll be able to start shooting ... not next year, but probably the year after. It'll take a while to write the script and all that sort of thing."
Another name that has been coming up over the past few days is The Shawshank Redemption writer. director Frank darabont, who may pen the screenplay for Indy 4. This has neither been confirmed or denied by Lucasfilm as of yet.

16/4/02: Indiana Jones 4 Update:
And so the rumour mill starts once again......On US show Entertainment Tonight, George Lucas and Harrison Ford were interviewed by Leonard Matlin. The question of 'whether Indy 4 is going to happen' came up and Ford replied,
"It's going to happen. It's going to happen. We have what we all believe to be a good idea. There's a lot of work ahead of us, but we are all looking foward to it."
And then this came from the mouth of Lucas himself,
"If I finish up with Episode 2 this week I have to begin work in INDY 4 next week."
So here we go.........................................
25/1/02: Indiana Jones 4 Update:
Having been away in Prague all week, I haven't been able to update on news concerning a forth Indy film. At a post-awards party after the Golden Globes the other nigh, Steven Spielberg and Harrison Ford apparently confirmed that they will do Indy 4. In fact Spielberg said that he will concentrate on the film as soon as he completes the Tom Hanks vehicle Catch Me If You Can. Spielberg said, "We have a title, but we're not ready to announce it, I will give you one clue, though. Kate is in it" Spielberg reffered to his wife Kate Capshaw, who appeared in Indiana Jones & The Temple Of Doom. Ford also commented, "It was always about getting the right script, and now we have it...There's one left in me. The question is whether George (Lucas) and Steven (Spielberg) do". (thanks to Dark Horizons).
4/12/01: Indiana Jones 4 Update:
Reports have been coming in all day that Paramount may have lost the rights to the Indiana Jones movies. Well, production rights to release a fourth movie anyway. It seems that they only had the sequel rights for twenty years, which has now expired (as ov November), so the rights for a fourth film are available. The news came from an interview Steven Spielberg gave to Starlog and Empire magazine. '"he and Lucas are having problems with Paramount in getting the fourth Indiana Jones installment launched". So the rights may end up with Spielbergs Dreamworks, depending where George Lucas, who owns the rights, wants to take it.
The first three films video rights remain at the moment with Paramount.
8/7/01: Indiana Jones 4 Update:
Over the last few days or so a number of different rumours have been floating around the web and in the international press that there is deffinately going to be an Indiana Jones 4. The Sun newspaper here in the last week stated that Harrison Ford will return for a fee of around £18 million ($25-28 million) and Sean Connery would also return to play the role of Henry Jones too. Both Spielberg and Lucas would be involved in directing nad producing roles. Today Aint It Cool also ran a story that said that the film will be entitled Indiana Jones and the Call of Cthulhu. What is going on? Well, I went to see what else I could find out. This is what I found on various internet sites. Dark Horizons has a small piece on Friday that Paramount were greenlighted to look at script submissions for the fourth film. Thestudio do, however, want the original credits. That'll be Harrison starring, Lucas producing and Speilberg directing. Ford, as we know, will command a hefty fee of around $25 million plus a back end deal and both Lucas and Spielberg will opt for a lesser fee plus a cut of the films profits. The whole thing will cost Paramount in the region of $150 million. It will therefore be a little difficult for the studio to make a profit after the three take their cash once the film starts to make money. The studio say that they have three scripts that they are interested in developing, however Spielberg and Lucas have said that they want writing control. Over to TheRaider.net and those rumours are shot down as the BBC News site posted this quoting a Paramount spokesman, "These rumors come round every couple of months. It's idle gossip." . Lastly, HarrisonFordWeb posted this little article quoted from E! News Daily, an interview with Steven Spielberg himself, (on his next project) Well.. to tell you the truth.. I am going to take some time off this summer and then start with Mr Lucas on another INDIANA JONES movie. "E" Asked another question. "really! will Harrison Ford play Indiana?" Mr Spielberg replied......."yes...we just signed him last week" . More news as I get it.
15/4/01: Indiana Jones 4 Update:
Page created. This one is probably one of the most anticipated movies ever (after the Star Wars sequels and possibly The Matrix 2). But it seems as if 2002 is the earliest date that this project could go ahead. It may possibly be later. George Lucas is tied up with those Star Wars sequels, Spielberg has at least two more movies in production yet, the first being Minority Report with Tom Cruise and Harrison Ford has a busy schedule too. It's all just a case of the mvoie going ahead when everybody is free. But, Ford isn't getting any younger either, he's 58 this year, so the fourth film may take a different path of the earlier movie with the plot set later in his life.
Casting wise, only Ford is set to return at the moment and nobody has been confirmed. But, we cannot really expectanything until the film has a definate start date. Harrison Ford recentley appeared on 'Inside The Actor's Studion' on cable over here in the UK and the question of whether there will be a fourth movie was put to him. He replied, 'yes'. The audience applauded, then Ford added 'only because I want there to be' and then went on to say that once everyone was free, the film would probably happen. Again no confirmations. Michelle Yeoh who recentley found fame in 'Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon' and also appeared in 'Tomorrow Never Dies' is also apparently in talks to star in the film. No news yet on Sean Connery though. It seems, from what I have read, that it is the general opinion that fans want him to return to his role as Indy's Dad that he made famous back in the third movie, which seems like eons ago back in 1989.
As I round off this opening article, here's a little news that popped up on Saturday. This years 'Power List' was published in Premiere magazine this month and both Harrison Ford and George Lucas made it into the top50. Here's a little quote that appeared under Ford's name; 'Still up for doing a fourth Indiana Jones adventure, which producer Lucas just set up at Paramount.' So, is the film finally in pre-production?
Finally here are links to a rumour script posted on fansite The Raider.net, by Chris Columbus!
