Robot Based On :
based on the Isaac Asimov short story that centred on
his famous three laws of robotics. Those laws hold that
a robot may not injure a human or, through inaction,

as long as that protection doesn't violate either the
first or second law.
Premise/Synopsis :The
movie will focus on a detective investigating a crime

14th January 2003: I, Robot Update: Hmm we had heard last week that T,
Robot was going to film in Canada because they couldn't find enough studio space
in Australia, well it now appears that isn't the whole story as the rumour sweeping
the net today is that Will Smith said NO to filming it in Australia. Seems the
Smith clan weren't that keen on Australia while Jada Pinkett Smith was filming
on the Matrix sequels. The VFX will still be done in Australia.

13th December 2002: I, Robot Update: Director Alex Proyas is going to
film the movie in Canada, he was working on pre-production in Australia, but partly
due to Star Wars III and Peter Pan having taken up most of the sound stage space.
The movie will return to Sydney for its post production schedule. Wednesday
4th December 2002: I, Robot Update: Further to rumours that Will Smith
would star in I, Robot it has been confirmed that he will take the lead role.
The movie is based on the Isaac Asimov short story that centred on his famous
three laws of robotics. Those laws hold that a robot may not injure a human or,
through inaction, allow a human to come to harm; a robot must obey orders given
to it by a human, except where it would conflict with the first law; and a robot
must protect itself, as long as that protection doesn't violate either the first
or second law. The movie will focus on a detective investigating a crime that
might have been perpetrated by a robot, even though that seems an impossibility
given those three prevailing rules."The big idea here is that if the robots
have found a way to violate the laws, there is nothing to stop them from taking
over, because the human race is so dependent on robots and automation," said
20th Century Fox film president Hutch Parker. The script was originally Hardwiredby
Jeff Vintar that was amalgamated with elements of I, Robot. Rewrites have been
by Hillary Seitz and Akiva Goldman. Monday
2nd December 2002: I Robot Update: Will Smith is being mentioned in connection
with taking the lead role in a movie to be called I Robot. I Robot is being developed
by Director Alex Proyas. The movie is thought to be gearing up to start filming
in the Spring of next year. More
