Thursday 7th November 2002: Die Another Day Update:
It seems that the length of Die Another Day will differ in certain countries. Press screenings in the US run at 122 minutes, whilst those in the UK come in at around 135 minutes. All this to get a specific rating. The film is rated PG-13 in the US and 12A in the UK, which are pretty similar certificates to be honest. It seems that British censors are more lenient that those in the US.

Tuesday 5th November 2002: James Bond: Die Another Day Update:
Word is reaching us today that the cameo appearance by Sean Connery as James Bond's father in Die Another Day may be cut, and the reason that in the original Bond novels by Ian Fleming, Bond was an orphan. No final decision, but my view is the films are loosely based on the novels, leave the cameo in!

The international poster for the 20th James Bond movie has been unveiled over at JamesBond007.net. This is styled in the more traditional Bond way, and not like those awful previous posters that popped up online a couple of months back. You can check those out on our Die Another Day page. The new poster is below. Enjoy.

Tuesday 15th October 2002: James Bond: Die Another Day Update:
Halle Berry has been taking about her role as Jinx in the upcoming Die Another Day "is really sexy, super-feminine, very witty, tough as nails and as quick as 007 with the comeback lines, the next step in the evolution of the Bond woman, year after year they've gotten a little stronger, a little smarter and more equally yoked with Bond, while still retaining their sexiness. They are his intellectual equal and physical rival. Army fatigues and combats -- because you have to wear them believably and not look uncomfortable in them. The glamorous gowns were the easy part!"

Monday 30th September 2002: James Bond: Die Another Day Update:
Ok, I thought it would happen, and it has Madonna's new title track for Die Another Day has appeared online, and unlike most other Bond anthems it is too. It's thought to be very trance like with the title repeated over and over. Sounds like worth watching out for.

Thursday 26th September 2002: James Bond: Die Another Day Update:
Madonna's title song for Die Another Day will be released to radio next month on the 10th. No doubt it will appear on the net before that.

Pierce Brosnan has been talking about how we will be seeing James Bond in the upcoming Die Another Day "This time you see a much more desperate character in Bond. You see this renegade, a man completely out of his environment. He’s in a situation that you’ve never seen Bond in before, so vulnerable and broken, as it were, because he’s captured and tortured in the beginning of the film."

Tuesday 10th September 2002: Die Another Day Update:

James Bond: Die Another Day Update:
Michael Madsen has been talking today about his role in the upcoming Die Another Day "Well, the role I have in the film is a small one. I always wanted to do a James Bond film, and they offered me a part where I die, and I didn't want that role, so they gave me a smaller role, but a recurring one, so that opened up the possibility for a larger part in the future." His character in Die Another Day is called Falco.

Monday 26th August 2002 : Die Another Day Update:
Well, here I am back again. Man, i'm really surprised to see how much stuff i've missed over the past week or so. It's taken me the whole weekend to catch up! Anyway, if you remember on Friday, Gary posted the new promo poster for James Bond's 20th movie outing, Die Another Day. That one featured the film's leading Bad Guy Zao, played by Rick Yune. Well, now the official Bond site have released the other four featuring Bond himself, Jinx, Gustav Graves and Miranda Frost. Check them out here.....

Monday 19th August 2002: James Bond: Die Another Day Update:
Entertainment Weekly scored a mass of info on the upcoming Bond sequel with Brosnan saying that "it's a much simpler story this time. You can actually follow the plot". They quashed rumours of a lesbian kiss between Halle Berry and Madonna. Halle Berry described her character as "She's sort of a female Bond, supersecure in her sexuality, extremely intelligent". Brosnan gave away some more info on the plot "has a thriller aspect to it. Bond is betrayed and gets ousted by his own people. He has to find his way back and reclaim who he is."

Monday 19th August 2002:James Bond: Die Another Day Update:
John Cleese has been talking about his role on thenew Bond movie "I shot my scenes with Pierce back in January, during the first week of filming. That is unusual for Q; normally they shoot him handing over the gadgets to Bond right at the end of the production, so that if any of the gadgets have not worked exactly as planned, Q's dialogue can be adapted to take account of this. However, this time they needed to take the new Bond car straight off to Finland to blow it up, so my scenes had to be at the start. The best new gadget concerns the car. It's based on military technology now being developed, which will one day allow something as big as a tank to be rendered invisible. "

15th August 2002 : James Bond Die Another Day Update:
Looks like Lee Tamahori is going to make some changes to the Bond formula with Die Another Day. Word reaches us that he is going to film Bond mid-coital instead of the usual post coital “In lovemaking, Bond's PG requirements have traditionally meant you can only show post-coital sex .You know, clothes strewn around the room, the camera slowly pans over to the bed... But we thought, why couldn't Bond have the best lay of his life? So we shot a very hot love scene. Whether it survives the censor's cut, or the producers, we'll see."

11th August 2002: Die Another Day Update:
The second teaser poster from James Bond 20 : Die Another Day has just been released. This time featuring Pierce Brosnan and Halle Berry. Quite a bit different from your usual Bond poster in that the woman is as strong a character as Bond, instead of the adornment that they usually are. Things are definetely looking up for Die Another Day!

9th July 2002: Die Another Day Update:
Empire Online managed to talk to British actor Colin Salmon at the Resident Evil premiere in London on Monday night. There he talked about the 20th bond movie, Die Another Day in which he appears as Mi6's no 2 in command.

"It's going to be really memorable," said Salmon. "It's the 40th anniversary and there's so many references for real Bond fans who know about the films. There are lots of references in the movie, it's one you definitely don't want to miss."

Life on the Bond set seems to be treating the cast well with high expectations for 007's twentieth outing - "the story's great, you'll see… it all breaks open" - and, while Halle Berry has graduated to Oscar-winner status, Salmon has no doubts that there's nowhere she'd rather be than working on Britain's most famous franchise. "Jinx is a really well-written part, the writers have done amazing stuff. The character is complex, interesting. She's a hero. That's the thing, we now have strong women and they do the business."

1st July 2002: Die Another Day Update:
The BBC have posted a video clip from their Newsround programme which went behind the scenes of the latest Bond film, Die Another Day. The clip features Brosnan and villain Toby Stephens filming an action sequence where they are seen sword fighting against one another. As well as featuring footage from the recent teaser that hit the web, the clip also includes a short interiew with director Lee Tamahori. Here, he confirms that pop diva Madonna will appear in the movie as well as singing the title song.

12th June 2002: Die Another Day Update:
Madonna's song for the new Bond movie will be entitled Die Another Day, keeping with tradition of the other 19 films where the song title was the same as the films title. The track was previousley called 'Can't You See My Mind'.

7th May 2002: Die Another Day Update:
Both director Lee Tamahori and James Bond himself, Pirece Brosnan, have been talking to Australian mag TV Week in a special on Die Another Day, the 20th Bond movie. The topic of whether Brosnan would return for a 21st movie came up. This from Moviehole.

"Yes I'll do another one", Brosnan says. "Playing Bond is like slipping on an old pair of shoes. I feel the role is mine and has been for some years now". But aside from doing 007 21 straight away, he admits he needs some rest. "I do think about doing another (Bond) movie after the next one but it takes a lot of stamina to play this role and I'd like to get off the stage with grace. The actor who plays this part has to push the envelope physically". "I'm honouring my contract with this fourth movie and it will be wonderful to do another one, but after that I don't know".

Be sure to check out the full interview at Moviehole.

25/4/02: Die Another Day Update:

A scene from the 20th James Bond movie has been posted on the internet. Entertainment Tonight official website host the clip that features Pierce Brosnan and Halle Berry in their roles as Bond and Jinx respectively. This is B Roll' footage, but interesting none the less. Go on over to ET to check it out.

10/4/02: Die Another Day Update:
So, the shoot continues. As posted last week, the Die Another Day cast and crew have moved on to sunny southern Spain. Oscar winner Halle Berry has returned to the set after jetting over from LA. The actress, who was today pictured on set in UK newspaper The Sun (see the pic here) has unfortunately been injured in a stunt involving a helicopter that Bond blows up. A fragment of debris from an explosion lodged itself in Berry's left eye. She had to undergo a 30 minute operation following the incident. "It could have been much more serious," People News quotes Dr. Antonio Fernandez, who treated Berry. "She has been quite lucky, in fact." However producers played down the incident by releasing the following in a statement today, "Ms Berry experienced some discomfort when a gust of wind blew some dust into her eye during filming of an action sequence. It was not as a result of debris from a smoke grenade. As a precautionary measure the production sought medical attention for what was a slight inflammation.
We are happy to report that Ms Berry suffered no lasting ill effects and returned to work immediately."

Meanwhile Aint It Cool have posted a report from Pinewood Studios over here in London. The famous James Bond stage is host to the Ice Palace set
.

"The famous James Bond stage is stuffed to the gills with one of the most remarkable sets ever constructed in history, an Ice Palace belonging to the villain. Made of fake ice this will be a return to the sorely missed "uber-villain" fortress, just like the Volcano in "Live and Let Die" and the tanker in "The Spy whom loved me". The palace is also full of "ice" furniture and a beautiful sculpted ice bed for Halle Berrys character who is now in Spain shooting. Might be a little cold on the posterior though!"

"It's been widely reported over the weekend that Madonna will be doing the title track for the 20th Bond film," we reported back on the 11th Feb (see below). it's now confirmed that Madonna will produce and record the said title track for Die Another Day. Confirmation came in an official release from MGM.

In other Bond 20 news, there are some pics from the Iceland set up on the official site, whilst actual footage from the movie was screened on 60 Minutes in the US where Dame Judi Dench appeared. Dark Horizons reported on what went out, "the setting had M and James in a British subway with the following dialogue: Bond "You burn me...now you want my help", M "You didn't expect an apology".

12/3/02: Die Another Day Update:
At last the title of James Bond 20 has been revealed. It's not Beyond The Ice and it's not Beneath The Sea but will be entitled Die Another Day.

"'Die Another Day' carries on the tradition of the Ian Fleming stories and reflects the excitement and mystery of our latest script". said EON Productions, the company behind the movie.

EON have also registered the domain www.dieanotherday.com. There's nothing up there yet though.

Coming Soon reported about the production of James Bond 20 moving onto Iceland this spring. The 20th Bond adventure will be the first 007 film to shoot in Iceland since A View To A Kill in the early 80's.

The Consulate General of Iceland announced this morning that "Bond 20" will return to Iceland this spring to shoot on location.

Eon Productions, based at Pinewood Studios in the U.K., have selected remote locations in Iceland to shoot scenes for the 20th "007" film.

The new, as yet untitled film will shoot in a variety of locations featuring frozen glacial lakes, wintry vistas, and waterfalls. Technical support will be provided by Saga Film Productions of Reykjavik, which estimates a crew of 40-50 technicians will work for four weeks on the project.

The last Bond film produced on this island-nation between the U.S. and Europe was "A View to a Kill," shot in 1983 on the Glacier Lagoon in southern Iceland.

"We're thrilled to film part of the movie in Iceland, which perfectly matches what we needed in the script - a cold, exotic location that looks out-of-this-world. This promises to be one of the greatest Bond films ever," said Eon producer Michael G. Wilson.

25/2/02: Die Another Day Update:

Would you take a look at the state of James Bond. Yes, this is Pierce Brosnan as everyone's favourite secret agent in James Bond 20. British tabloid newspaper The Sun printed this pic in today's edition.

"Bedraggled Bond is left unshaven, if not stirred, after being held captive for months by rebels in North Korea". This pic shows Brosnan on a bridge, about to be handed over to South Korea and was filmed in Berkshire last week.

11/2/02: Die Another Day Update:
It's been widely reported over the weekend that Madonna will be doing the title track for the 20th Bond film and will also be appearing in the film itself. Now, the first part of the rumours are indeed true. Madonna will be doing a track for the film, but it's not yet known if it will be the title track or not. Her publicist has denied that she will appear in the film. 'She is doing a song for the film but she won't be acting,'

Madonna has also been linked to Austin Powers 3. A couple of weeks back we reported that she will be contributing to that films soundtrack too, although this still hasn't been confirmed.

25/1/02: Die Another Day Update:
Ananova reports that Will Yun Lee (Face/Off) has joined the cast of James Bond 20. This was confirmed by Eon, the producers of the movie.

15/1/02: Die Another Day Update:

It seems that James Bond 20 will shoot in Iceland. The filmmakers want to hire the country's powerful arctic rescue helicopters. Ananova posted this report;

The movie's producers want to hire the country's powerful arctic rescue helicopters.
Officials say they wouldn't normally hire out the vehicles, but will make an exception for 007. Location scouts working on the 20th James Bond contacted Iceland's rescue services. They wanted to hire their TF-LIF rescue helicopter to film some action scenes. Halldór Nellett, spokesman for Iceland's rescue services, confirmed the rumours, saying: "Ordinarily the service does not hire out its vehicles, but will make an exception for Mr Bond." IcelandReview.com reports that locations under consideration for shooting include the area around the Jökulsárlón glacial lagoon and the Skálafellsjökull glacier.

(appeared on Ananova)

13/1/02: Die Another Day Update:
Update.
This was posted on Corona (in reference to the suggested Bond 20 title - Beyond The Ice, referring to the famous Ice Hotel in Jukkasjärvi, Sweden)

"This hotel has been totally made out of frozen water; the rooms are ice, the bar is made from ice, the front desk, and so on. According to our scooper who read the Expressen article, the Ice Hotel will be the main villain's hideout in the new Bond movie, and the building's interiors will be replicated at Pinewood Studios. The hotel's CEO confirmed to Expressen that contact has been made between them and the Bond producers, but he had no further comment about the matter".

(Friday 11/1/02) Various internet sources have said that Australian actress Kimberley Davies (Annalise in Neighbours) has won the role of the new Bond girl role in James Bond 20. (originally appeared at Moviehole).

Also, it seems that the bad guy role in the new film will be played by two actors, as the character undergoes a facial mutation. The role will be played by Toby Stephens, as reported below and also Korean actor Rick Yu.

In other Bond 20 news, the official site will post information on the launch conference that has just taken place. The site was to post the info at 4pm GMT, but it looks like they're sunning a little late, as my watch makes it 8pm GMT. Anyway check it out as it'll be posted soon.

Pierce Brosnan however, has confirmed that he will be Bond in the 21st movie; "I will do another one. Time has gone by so quickly...It takes stamina to play this role. I would like to get off the stage with grace. I am honouring my contract here but it would be wonderful to do another one. After that, I do not know".

Shooting on Bond 20 kicks off on Monday taking in Hawaii, Iceland, Spain and London.

8/1/02
: Die Another Day Update:

The Sun newspaper here in the UK claim that the guy that starred as the young Clint Eastwood in Space Cowboys has been lined up to play the baddie in James Bond 20. Toby Stephens (pictured right) is the son of Dame Maggie Smith and the late Sir Robert Stephens. Stephens also appeared in the 1992 film Orlando, with Tilda Swinton.

7/1/02: Die Another Day Update:
Update time! Now, a lot has been rumoured since we last posted! According to ComanderBond.net, set design work has already commenced on James Bond 20 at Pinewood Studios, London.

Meanwhile, on the casting front Pierce Brosnan is still Bond, well at least for thos movie as this is to be the last. The actor has been quoted in saying that he'd love to do a fifth, but says that producers are keeping quiet on the subject, well for the moment anyway. Corona reports that producers have met with around 15 Korean actors for three roles in the fourth film. They have the full translated report at their site. Other actresses attached to the project are Halle Berry who will play Jinx, and British actress Rosamund Pike who will play a character named Gala Brand. British model Sophie Dahl has also been in talks with Pierce Brosnan for a small role in the film. The latest name to be mentioned to have been cast as the latest Bond girl is UK chart sensation Sophie Ellis-Bextor, who had a recent hit with Murder On The Dancefloor. On the actor front, Michael Madsen is also said to have been in talks to play CIA agent Falco. Nothing concrete. Korean acor Rick Yun will play the films baddie, a guy who undergoes various facial changes until one of them goes wrong and leaves him mutilated.

The big news this weekend was that the '007' logo has been spotted on one of Formula One racing cars. The famous logo was seen on the Jaguar R3. Formula1.com reports.

"This is due to a tie-up with the new Bond film, due for release at the end of this year, which will see the British spy racing around in several of Jaguar and Ford's Premier Automotive Group's (PAG) finest products. There is even talk that Bond could appear in a formula1 car, Jaguar Racing of course, for the first time in his history". Full article & Pic.

Bond in an F1 car! Wow, full details are to be released at this year's Monaco Grand Prix in May.

2/8/01: Die Another Day Update:
I read this the other day and got completely absorbed elsehwere and forgot to post it. Arnold Vosloo (The Mummy) was in Munich recently and was said to be meeting up with Barbara Broccolli to discuss a possible role in James Bond 20. He is said to be up for the role of the villain in the picture. But, since I read this, Eon denied the rumours through Ananova. Still no definate word as to whether Nigel Havers will take the baddie role though.

31/7/01: Die Another Day Update:

It's apparent that Mariah Carey is up for a role in James Bond 20. Carson Daly reported on his radio ahow that she may cameo in the as yet utitled movie. (originally appeared at Dark Horizons).

Here could be the big news of the day. This comes fom Bond20.com and is not confirmed, it is rumour only, and refers to the films plot hinted that Bond 20 could be a revenge movie! " Bond 20 will finally reveal the origins of the 00 agents. We will discover that Bond's father, Andrew Bond, was a 00 agent who worked with Q in the early days. We will discover that Bond's father did not die with his mother in a climbing accident. Seeing as Bond's father was Scottish it was thought by the writer that this would be an ideal way of having Sean Connery back in some shape or form to play against Pierce Brosnan as Bond's father." >>more. The article goes on to state that Brit actor Nigel Havers will play the villain in the film.

30/7/01: Die Another Day Update:
Variety today announced that Once Were Warriors, The Edge and Mulholland Falls director Lee Tamahori will direct the 20th James Bond movie! The Kiwi director's last project was Along Came A Spider with Morgan Freeman. Both Variety and Aint It Cool says that he's been signed to direct, but there has not been an official announcement from EON. We'll let you know.

25/7/01
: Die Another Day Update:
More on the car that Bond will drive in the 20th movie. Aston Martin have revealed that they have been in talks with the producers about using the Aston Martin Vanquish V12. There will be only Vanquish V12 200 cars made this year and costs around the £158,000 mark. No official decison has been made as of yet.

Updated : 24/7/01
: Die Another Day Update:
James Bond 20 was inevitable and is set to go into production at any time. The film will be Pierce Brosnan's final Bond movie and it will be the first not to feature Q himself Desmond Llewellyn. John Cleese will step into his shoes. But would he reprise his role as R, "No, I'm Q now but only on account of this awful accident, I actually said to Desmond, it was his idea he should have an assistant because I suppose he felt at some point he was going to have to move on. I always assumed that he would do the next two or three because he had no trouble with his lines and then there was this terrible car accident." (from an interview with About.com) Contuary to what some British tabloids have printed, Whitney Houston is not going to be in the film.

Directing duties this time may go to Rush Hour's Brett Ratner after both MGM and Brosnan himself expressed interest in ratner to helm the pic. But the Broccoli's don't want him. Maybe they want to give the directing duties to a British director after Martin Campbell (Goldeneye), Roger Spottiswood (Tomorrow Never Dies) and Michael Apted (The World Is Not Enough) did great jobs helming the last three films.

So what about the car? Chicks dig the car. This time Bond will once again drive the Aston Martin and not a BMW that was featured in the last couple of movies.

More news on Die Another Day as it comes.
