Ben Affleck has revealed that he should never have gotten Jennifer Lopez involved in Jersey Girl "Jen is only in the movie for 10 or 12 minutes and when I look back on it now I feel really bad about having gotten her involved because I said 'Come on, do it, it'll be fun, it's just a small part, we'll be together' ... And now we've got nothing but trouble for it, (I feel) guilty because I don't want all of this media stuff to take away from what is a really interesting movie."

Kevin Smith has cut out the wedding scene between J.Lo and her ex Ben Affleck in Jersey Girl. "I didn't know if it was right to leave it in. People might forget they're watching a picture."

Monday 20th October 2003: Jersey Girl Update:
Kevin Smith has been talking about the rumours that Ben & Jen won't be on the Jersey Girl posters "I've seen the marketing concepts on this movie from as early on as when we were still shooting up to just yesterday. EVERY poster is centered around Affleck"

Friday 10th October 2003: Jersey Girl Update:
Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez have reportedly been axed from posters for
their new movie. Jersey Girl producers Miramax apparently told their
marketing teams to scrap images of both stars after their last film, Gigli,
bombed at the box office. J-Lo has also had her scenes drastically cut by
director Kevin Smith after her performance went down badly with preview
audiences. A source is quoted as saying: “After Gigli, Miramax doesn’t want
to take any chances with another laughing stock flop. They’re going to
promote this as a Kevin Smith movie.”

Wednesday 6th August 2003: Jersey Girl Update:
Kevin Smith has been dealing with the reaction to Gigli that naturally
reflects on his Affleck/Lopez starring Jersey Girl "As far as all this
worrying about what this weekend's Gigli reception means for Jersey Girl...
well, don't waste your energy. We're gonna be fine (more than fine, I
think). Apples and oranges. Shit, apples and blowjobs, really. I know it's
a hot topic this weekend for obvious reasons, but lest we (or rather, I)
have to endure all this nail-biting speculation for the next eight months,
let's curb it now...If it's any consolation, I'm not sweating it. I've seen
[Jersey Girl] with audiences. And while I'm sorry that Gigli didn't do
better this weekend, it's critical reaction and box office take won't have
the slightest effect on Jersey Girl. Take my word for it... It'd be like
worrying how American Beauty was gonna do, because Kevin Spacey's
Consenting Adults didn't fare well at the box office." He was also asked
his opinion of Gigli "it could've done with some tighter editing. The
movie, like Ben and Jen, are just victims of a particularly nasty little
backlash...the sheer naked aggression is astounding."

Thursday 15th June 2003: Jersey Girl Update:
The U.S. release of Kevin Smith’s Jersey Girl has been pushed back to
February 2004 from its previous release date of November 7, 2003 to avoid
clashing with The Matrix Revolutions.

Friday 23rd May 2003: Jersey Girl Update:
Kevin Smith has been talking about filming on Jersey Girl and it sounds
like things were getting steamy "They both got carried away during their
sex scenes. We got Jennifer and Ben at a perfect time. They were falling in
love in real life and falling in love on film. I don't think they had to
act that much. There were times when we'd shout 'Cut!' and it didn't seem
to matter to them."

Thursday 2nd January 2003: Jersey Girl Update:
MoviePoopShoot have finally updated their Jersey Girl set diary. Or should I say Kevin Smith has finally updated his Jersey Girl diary. Now, it looks like it was worth the wait as he has posted more details about the film, loads of anecdotes from the set as well as a group of cool candid photos of the cast and crew.

'As for the film -- well, I'll say this: I fucking love it. I do. I really adore it -- moreso than anything we've ever done before. Outside of marrying Schwalbach and being too lazy to rip open a prophylactic that apparently had Harley's name written all over it (though not necessarily in that order), it's the best thing I've ever done. That's not to say it's for everybody; in fact, a good number of the folks who've loved our previous flicks will probably abandon us after seeing JERSEY GIRL is nothing like them (not even AMY), if they even see it at all'.

Smith also went in and put the record straight about his involvement with the third Scary Movie.

'My involvement with SCARY MOVIE 3. Here's the story: After the Wayans brothers took what was supposed to be SCARY MOVIE 3 elsewhere, Bob Weinstein called and asked if I'd look at the Dimension draft of the latest SCARY MOVIE when they were done with it, and maybe add a joke here or there. I asked him who was writing it, and he said he hadn't assigned it yet. So I suggested a guy I knew was perfect for the gig: Poop Shoot's own Brian Lynch. Bob met with Brian, and brought him on as one of the writers, along with David Zucker and Pat Profft'.

Tuesday 3rd December 2002: Jersey Girl Update:
Kevin Smith has had a computer game made for Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez as a thank you for starring in Jersey Girl. The game is called Jen Saves Ben and features an animated Lopez who must find and rescue Affleck, who has been kidnapped and chained to a warehouse wall. Also in the game are Kevin Smith and Matt Damon as an evil robot. Gut instinct is that the game will feature in the movie.

Monday 21st October 2002: Jersey Girl Update:
Kevin Smith has signed up Will Smith for a cameo appearance,as himself,in the upcoming Jersey Girl movie. He will cameo in a scene where Be Affleck's character is shouted at by hundreds of journalists as they wait for Will Smith to show up, but he only has ears for his daughter who cries are more compelling. Affleck's charcater then shouts out "Shut up with the Fresh Prince stuff! He's a two-bit TV actor who won't be around any longer than it takes for the ink to dry on the pages of the worthless rags you jerks work for!"

Tuesday 17th September 2002: Jersey Girl Update:
Kevin Smith has just published a diary from the set of his upcoming Ben Affleck/J Lo starrer and very interesting it is too "Rehearsals went incredibly well. We were scheduled for two full weeks, but by the end of day one, it was clear that we could've started shooting the next day. In the midst of rehearsals, we took time out to head into Philly's famous Sigma Sound (where Bowie laid down tracks, many moons ago) to record a song for the big musical number in the flick....Affleck's turned in some really moving stuff thus far as well. If his 'I love you -- and not in a friendly way ...' speech in AMY brought tears to your eyes, bring a whole box of tissues when you go to see this flick -- because Ben's got a scene with the kid that'll just flat-out break your heart -- even if you hate children"

Friday 29th August 2002: Jersey Girl Update:
Matt Damon will have a cameo role in Jersey Girl the upcoming Kevin Smith movie it was announced by himself today and he found it hard to refuse Smith
. "He said 'what you're too good to work for me now' Won't appear in your old friends movie?" His scene hasn't been shot yet.

Wednesday 28th August 2002 : Jersey Girl Update:
Looks like there willbe very little outside filming on the upcoming Kevin Smith movie with word that the only outside filming is night filming in the old city of Philadelphia. Everything else is being filmed indoors.

Tuesday 27th August 2002 :Jersey Girl Update:
Want a part in the upcoming Ben Affleck/J.Lo movie then get yer ass over to www.newsaskew.com as Director Kevin Smith has put out a call for extras, no speaking parts mind "But that doesn't mean you still can't be a part of the Movie Magic (actual Movie Magic not guaranteed) as an Extra!" revealed Smith himself.

Tuesday 27th August 2002 : Jersey Girl Update:
Kevin Smith has added American Pie's Jason Biggs to his hefty cast list and the actor will be juggling his current Broadway run with Kathleen Turner and Alicia Silverstone in The Graduate with shooting Smith's fifth movie. Biggs appeared in a cameo for Smith in last years Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back and also took another break from stage duties in June to nip off for Woody Allen's Anything Else featuring Christina Ricci.

Friday 23rd August 2002 : Jersey Girl Update:
Filming on the Ben Affleck Jennifer Lopez movie is thought to be in Philadelphia in Logan's Square on Monday 26th.

16th July 2002: Jersey Girl Update:
Kevin Smith has just launced a Jersey Girl production diary over at MoviePoopShoot.com, where he has and indeed will be posting information from the shoot. The diary kicks off today with news that Smith has hired Vilmos Zsigmond to shoot the movie. Vilmos Zsigmond is the Academy Award Winning director of photography that shot films like Deliverence, The Deer Hunter, Heaven's Gate, Blow Out and.........Close Encounters Of The Third Kind, amongst many other classics. Smith also reveals that production will kick off on August 19th and (hoefully) end on November 1st. The film will be made under a new production comany named New Askew. The production will be based in Philladelphia. Smith enlightens us on as to why they've picked Philly.

"Another beneficial aspect of Philly over Toronto is that we can simply cross the Ben Franklin bridge and actually shoot in the damn state the flick's named for. The nearby town of Paulsboro will be playing the role of Highlands for most of the show, when Highlands isn't able to play itself. For the purists (namely me), however, we've scheduled a few days of shooting in the real Highlands, as well as a few days in Manhattan - the city that also plays a crucial role in the flick".

Smith also states that he will not appear in the film. Neither will Jay & Silent Bob (obviousley).

21st May 2002: Jersey Girl Update:
The word is that Gigli co-stars Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez may get back together for Kevin Smith's Jersey Girl. Lopez would play Affleck's character's new wife. George carlin is also in talks to play Affleck's father in the film according to the Hollywood Reporter.

14th May 2002: Jersey Girl Update:

Production is to start in July of this year on this, the latest Kevin Smith film. Jersey Girl is said to be loosley based on Smith's experiences of being a father to a two year old girl although in the film, Gertie, the little girl in question is said to be more like six years of age. Film Jerk provides some more info on the character,

Like her mother, she is down to earth, clever, and a huge fan of the musical Sweeney Todd. While Gertie is able to manipulate [her dad] Ollie with the finesse of an adult, she is ultimately Daddy's little girl. Please submit Latina and Caucasian actresses.

Ben Affleck will star in the film as Gertie's dad Ollie.

The film is also rumoured to be set in the late eighties/ early nineties.
