4th January 2005: Kingdom of Heaven Update:
Ridley Scott making a huge budget epic movie in a similar
kind of vein to Gladiator. Sounds good and you would expect
this to rule the box office when it's released on 6th May in
the UK and US. But there's two things nagging away at the back
of my mind that could go against it. 1. People are sick of these
epics nad have had their fingers badly burned by them recently
vis a vis Troy, Alexander and King Arthur all being piles of
shite. 2. Orlando Bloom. Yes sure the ladies love him, but other
than Pirates of the Caribbean he has been nothing other than
disappointing and can he really carry such a big movie?

The first pic of Orlando Bloom as Balian of Ibelin in Ridley
Scott's Kingdom of Heaven can be seen over at Time
Magazine. Set in 12th century Europe and the exotic East,
Kingdom of Heaven is an epic romantic action film about a young
peasant (Bloom) who becomes a renowned knight, saves a kingdom,
and falls in a love with a princess. Eva Green, Jeremy Irons,
David Thewlis, Brendan Gleeson, Marton Csokas, and Liam Neeson
also star.

Ridley Scott is having security problems in Morocco as the film's
subject matter has apparently enraged local fanatics. King Mohammed
of Morocco has ordered that the film's set have extra security
to protect the cast and crew.

22nd January 2004: Kingdom of Heaven Update:
Orlando Bloom Multimedia have scored a set report of what was
being filmed on the set of Kingdom of Heaven yesterday "Yesterday,
they shot one of the most dangerous scenes filmed so far in
Loarre: it shows the moment when Balian falls into the forge
and burns alive while his workshop burns up around him. It seems
that Orlando Bloom wanted to play the scene himself (with all
the necessary security measures and firemen, emergency crew,
fireproof clothing and so on) but Ridley Scott insisted the
scene to be performed by a stuntman, to which Orlando agreed
in the end (he must have remembered Legolas' little accidents
while shooting Lord of the Rings). The scene came out perfect,
according to the informing sources. Due to the difficulty level
of this part of the film, the crew in Loarre started shooting
about noon and finished close to midnight."

13th January 2004: Kingdom of Heaven Update:
The rumours that Russell Crowe had been signed up for a role
in Kingdom of Heaven have now proven to be false with the news
that Jeremy Irons has been added to the cast as Tiberias, the
role that was rumoured for Crowe.

The US release date for the currently Kingdom of Heaven has
been set as 6th May 2005.
Monday 22nd December 2003 Kingdom of Heaven Update:
Eva Green has been cast in the all important role of princess and love interest to Orlando Bloom in Kingdom of Heaven. Filming starts in Morocco this January for a 2005 release.

David Thewlis has joined the cast of Ridley Scott's epic Kingdom of Heaven. Thewlis, who will play a priest, will star opposite Orlando Bloom in the film, which is set in 12th century Europe and the Far East.

Liam Neeson is in talks to join Ridley Scott's epic love story Kingdom of Heaven. Neeson would take the role of the father of the film's hero, played by Orlando Bloom.

My question to these rumours is isn't he supposed to be starting Cinderella Man in Canada in the new year? The word is that he will start his work on Kingdom after Cinderella Man, I guess that means that Kingdom is going to have a LONG shoot.

Ridley Scott and 20th Century Fox are preparing the Crusades-era
epic
Kingdom of Heaven for a January production start in Morocco.
Set in the 12th
century, the drama focuses on a young blacksmith who becomes
a knight and
helps defend Jerusalem against the Crusaders. There is also
a love story, as
the young knight falls in love with a princess. Scott is actively
casting
and word is that Orlando Bloom tops the list.
