2004: Knight Rider Update:
In an effort to make it more trendy, Universal are apparantly
looking to replace David Hasselhoff with Fast and the Furious
Paul Walker in their big screen version of the Knight Rider
TV show.
Thursday
1st April 2004: Knight Rider Update:
David Hasselhoff was interviewed in The Metro recently and
he talked about the possibility of a Knight Rider movie "I'm
working on it. We've taken it to a studio that, predictably,
wants to change everything. I believe if it ain't broke, don't
fix it. I don't want it to be a joke version like Starsky
& Hutch. I think Knight Rider deserves a shot at something
serious. Michael Knight will take over the foundation and
become the Edward Mulhare character, Devon Miles, as Edward
has passed away. Michael's son will do the crazy stunts with
Kit. I will still play Michael Knight. I told them I was not
interested in doing a cameo and making it into a farce.
Who'll play Kit?
I'd like it to be the old voice, William Daniels. He was very
much responsible for the success of the show. It had three
components: heart, humour and action. Michael was the heart,
the humour was the car, the action was the stunts. "

Thursday 8th May 2003: Knight Rider Update:
Ashton
Kutcher is being linked with the lead role in the proposed
Knight
Rider movie. However, the actor is reported to be merely "thinking
about it"
at the moment. A spokesperson for Kutcher said: "It's
a possibility, but
that's all. It might be something, an idea he's interested
in, and it would
be a good thing but there's no script. He hasn't even seen
a script."

Friday 2nd May 2003: Knight Rider Update:
David
Hasselhoff has been talking about development on the Knight
Rider movie "Right
now it's in this land of 'Which way are we going with it?'I
think for the film, we're going to go one way, and for the
television series another way.I figure James Bond's about
my age, so I could still be Michael Knight."

Friday 2nd May 2003: Knight Rider Update:
Rumours are circulating that Ashton Kutcher will star in Knight
Rider.

Monday 14th April 2003: Knight Rider Update:
The
wheels are in motion on Revolution Studios' big screen adaptation
of
1980s TV show Knight Rider. The studio has hired writers David
Elliott and
Paul Lovett to pen the script for the movie, which is being
planned as an
action comedy.
 Monday
13th January 2003: Knight Rider Update:
Revolution Studios have been in talks with former Neighbours
actor Dan Paris (Drew the mechanic) to take the lead role
in the film version of Knight Rider they are developing.
Monday
13th January 2003: Knight Rider - The Movie Update:
You might have this already, but on radio Delta FM 102 they
were talking to
former Neighbors soapie star Dan Paris. Seems another actor
has popped up as a potential "Knight Rider" star
- his name is Dan Paris, and he played Drew Kirk on TV's Neighbors.
Apparently he's been in talks with Revolution Studios about
playing the Michael Knight role in the movie version. They
originally wanted Vin Diesel but fancy taking a risk on someone
that "has a lot of potential". Thought you'd want
the heads up! 'Thanks to Joanne'.
Tuesday
31st December 2002: Knight Rider - The Movie Update:
A fansite has just hit the web at www.knight-rider-movie.de.

I first heard of this project when David Hasselhoff, the star
of the original TV series, appeared on the 'So Graham Norton'
show over here in the UK recently. He mentioned that he was
thinking of bringing it back as a feature length movie. Now,
Revolution Studios, the production company behind the upcoming
xXx starring Vin Diesel,
have purchased the feature film rights for Knight Rider and
hope to bring it to the big screen in 2004.
Glen Larson, the original series creator, will pen the first
draft of the screenplay, which will be updated for the 21st
century and yes, will feature KITT, the talking car.
"It's going to be a big action film," a Revolution
representative told E!. "[Glen Larson] is going to
write the script but obviously it's not a remake of the TV
show."
Sources
say that the film will be produced to appeal to audiences
of high octane films like The Fast & The Furious and the
upcoming xXx.
Hasselhoff meanwhile will act as executive producer and may
appear in the movie, which will be his first real big screen
outing. The film will probably go down a storm in Germany!
There is also a planned TV movie entitled Super Knight Rider
3000: The Return Of Michael Knight. The IMDB
has a page listing details on the film. Take
a look if you're interested.
