Premise/Synopsis: The film is set on the eve of WWII in a Yorkshire mining town. Because of financial reasons, the Carraclough family is forced to sell Lassie, their beloved dog, to the Duke of Rudling. When Lassie finds herself transported five hundred miles away to live in the Duke's isolated castle on the northern coast of Scotland, she is determined to defy the odds and return to her home in time for Christmas.

Writer/Director/Producer Charles Sturridge ("Fairytale") will begin principal photography on "Lassie" on May 23rd. The seven-week shoot will film on location in Ireland and the Isle of Man. Charles Sturridge wrote the script, based on Eric Knight's classic 1938 novel "Lassie Come Home." Peter O'Toole will star as the Duke of Rudling, and Samantha Morton has been cast as Sarah Carraclough. Additional cast members include Peter Dinklage ("The Station Agent"), Steve Pemberton, John Lynch ("Sliding Doors") Jemma Redgrave ("Howards End"), and Gregor Fisher ("Love Actually"). The film is set on the eve of WWII in a Yorkshire mining town. Because of financial reasons, the Carraclough family is forced to sell Lassie, their beloved dog, to the Duke of Rudling. Odyssey Entertainment will handle the worldwide distribution rights.

Classic Media, who own the rights to the Lassie property, have
announced that they are planning on making a Lassie movie this
summer. They are basing the movie on the novel by Eric Knight
that started it all off back in the 1940's. Signed up to script
and direct the project is Charles Sturridge.
