The lead song for Legally Blonde 2 has been announced and it will be performed by LeAnn Rimes. The song is called We Can and will be released in June. Rimes had this to say
"I loved the film Legally Blonde and was really thrilled to have the opportunity to contribute to the sequel. Underneath all the comedy, Legally Blonde 2 has a very positive and uplifting message. The song is a testament to the power of working for a common goal. Plus, we blondes have to stick together."

Reese Witherspoon has been talking about the currently filming Legally Blonde sequel "It's really funny, it's very inspiring, and it very much has a spirit of getting involved and participating in your life and government and politics.My character is a corporate lawyer in the beginning of the movie and becomes very disillusioned with this company that she's working for when she figures out it's doing animal testing, so she decides to go to Washington to lobby for animal rights, and, of course, she has no idea what she's doing and no one will help her. She has to figure out the system."

Regina King has joined Reese Witherspoon in Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde. King will star as Grace Stoteraux, the chief of staff for Congresswoman Rudd. Shooting kicks off this month.

Reese Witherspoon has been talking about the role of her character in the upcoming Legally Blonde sequel and also reveals some interesting details "She's a corporate lawyer who becomes very upset about something that is happening in her town and decides she's going to go to Washington to try to get this law passed. I don't want to give away too much of it, it is very funny. It's educational for younger people that don't know a lot about the government, but it's also very much fish out of water in the same scenario that she was also out of her element at Harvard."

Filming on Legally Blonde 2 will be released on July 3rd next year. This will tie in with the film's more political theme. We're also told that Charles Herman-Wurmfeld (Kissing Jessica Stein) is directing.

Wednesday 4th September 2002: Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blue Update:
Reese Witherspoon will return as Elle Woods in a sequel to last year's sleeper hit Legally Blonde. Legally Blonde 2: Red, White and Blonde will see Woods running for political office. The original was based around the Beverley Hills chick trying to win back her boyfriend by enrolling in Harvard.

Witherspoon will get $15 million for her efforts.

MGM, the studio behind the film are trying to get the film off the ground, ready for a July 2003 release. The producers are looking for a suitable direction in time for a November 2002 start.
