Just
received the following press release that I'm
sure all you Narnia fans want to hear about
"is to have its World Premiere in London
in the presence of TRH The Prince of Wales and
The Duchess of Cornwall on Wednesday December
7th at the Royal Albert Hall. The film has been
honoured as the selection for the prestigious
2005 Royal Film Performance in aid of the Cinema
and Television Benevolent Fund.No effort will
be spared to turn the Royal Albert Hall into
a spectacular film palace for the evening, with
a glamorous white carpet replacing the traditional
premiere red carpet, and a magical winter wonderland
setting for the magnificent party to be held
afterwards in a massive marquee in Kensington
Gardens for the thousands of international guests
who will be attending. Celebrity guests from
around the world will be the first to see the
epic big-screen version of this much-cherished
story. The organisers will also be ensuring access
to the event for an unusually large number of
members of the public. Although access to royal
film premieres is normally restricted to invited
guests and charity donors, large numbers of
affordable seats will be offered for sale to
the public and grandstand seating will be set
up for fans to watch the celebrity arrivals
in comfort." Now don't ask me how you get
tickets as they haven't revealed that yet!

rumours are circulating that Brian Cox has been
dumped as the voice of Aslan for The Lion, the
Witch and the Wardrobe and is to be replaced
by Liam Neeson. No confirmation yet, but Neeson
doesn't have a project on the go at the moment
so he is certainly available.

31st July 2002: The Lion, The Witch and
the Wardrobe Update:
Shrek director Andrew Adamson will helm
The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe. This appeared on Coming
Soon today.
"As we've seen with 'Lord of the Rings' and 'Harry Potter,'
bringing to the screen a literary fantasy classic, beloved by
millions of readers, requires both a reverence for the original
material and a rich imagination to create a realistic fictional
world," offered Cary Granat, chief executive officer of
Walden Media. "Andrew Adamson knows better than anyone
how to create magic on-screen and tell a story which touches
the heart of an audience. His expertise in visual effects, animation
and live action will be critical to a fantasy work of this magnitude."
"Narnia
was such a vivid and real world to me as a child, as it is to
millions of other fans. I share Walden's excitement in giving
those fans an epic theatrical experience worthy of their imaginations,
and driving a new generation toward the works of C.S. Lewis,"
offered Adamson. "Making a film that crosses generations
is a far easier task when the source material resonates such
themes as truth, loyalty and belief in something greater than
yourself."
"The
Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe," published in 1950, is
the second and best-known novel in the seven-part "Chronicles
of Narnia" series, which also includes "The Magician's
Nephew," "The Horse and His Boy," "Prince
Caspian," "The Voyage of the 'Dawn Treader,'"
"The Silver Chair" and "The Last Battle."
The Narnia series has sold over 60 million copies and is currently
published by HarperCollins. Its author, Clive Staples Lewis,
was born in Belfast, Ireland in 1898 and as a child was fascinated
by the fairy tales, myths and ancient legends recounted to him
by his nurse. The image of a faun carrying parcels and an umbrella
in a snowy wood came to him when he was sixteen. Many years
later an evil queen and a magnificent lion joined the faun,
and their story became "The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe."
The book tells the story of Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy, separated
from their parents in London during the German air raids of
World War II. They are sent to the country for safety and it
is here that they step into the magic wardrobe and discover
the mystical world of Narnia. C.S. Lewis, a distinguished professor
of English, died in 1963 at his home in Oxford.
12/12/01
The second in the series of books The Chronicles OF Narnia (all
of which are to be made into a series of films) The Lion, The
Witch & The Wardrobe is to be adapted into a film first
by Waldon Media and The CS Lewis Company.
At the moment there is no script and no studio, but the two
companies are eager to get things underway on the film adaptation
after the sucesses of Harry Potter and The Lord Of The Rings.
