Now this is rather sad. After he created probably the
greatest trilogy of movies for them it now looks like
New Line Cinema may not have paid Peter Jackson, and his
film company Wingnut, what they are due him. His film
company has today lodged a court action that New Line
did not calculate the earnings from the movie in the correct
manner. Shame, as I'm sure that New Line made an absolute
fortune out of it anyway.

Tuesday 16th December 2003: Lord of the Rings: Return of the King Update:
Many unique visual effects in "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King", are possible because of XYZ RGB Inc, a 3D scanning company that helped create the film's giant spider "Shelob". That process began by scanning resin maquettes sent from director Peter Jackson's New Zealand-based Weta Workshop to XYZ RGB in Ottawa, Canada. Once scanned with XYZ RGB's laser the 3D datasets stood as the film's archival masters. While the level of detail for the numerous characters varied, the typical CG models produced for the films ranged in size from 14 Million polygons for the bust of "Shelob" to over 28,000,000 polygons for the massive 'Mumakil' elephants used to populate 'Middle Earth'.
XYZ RGB's technology to reproduce characters and creatures with microscopic detail and photographic realism was also used in "The Matrix: Reloaded", "The Matrix: Revolutions" and "Peter Pan".

Peter Jackson is putting Bag End in the back garden of his New Zealand mansion. The Lord of the Rings director was allowed to keep Bilbo and Frodo Baggins' home after filming. He and wife Fran Walsh are relocating it to the grounds of their sprawling property in Masterton. Jackson said: "I love Bag End. Sometimes you feel like you really are in that world. It's all made with round walls. It's amazing how comforting roundness is in a building."

Thursday 11th December 2003: Lord of the Rings: Return of the King Update:
Elijah Wood has upset "LOTR : Return Of The King" director Peter Jackson by urinating in his favorite fountain. Wood with co-stars Dominic Monahan and Billy Boyd climbed to the top of the fountain in Wellington, New Zealand, after getting drunk one night.
"So one particular drunken evening Dom, myself and Billy were walking home from a bar and we saw this fountain," said Wood.
"... and Dom and I look at it and he says: "We should conquer it, let's climb it."
"So we climb the thing and once we got to the top, what else is there to do but urinate in it ...
"Peter Jackson was very upset when he found out. He said: "'I grew up with that fountain."

Friday 5th December 2003: The Return of the King Update:
Robin Williams reckons Andy Serkis should win an Oscar for playing Gollum in The Lord of the Rings: The Return Of The King. "Most definitely," he said recently. "Gollum is one of the greatest, animated, if not 3D and acted creations ever. Meeting Andy Serkis is incredible! It's like meeting Peter Lorre on steroids! It's a combo, you know. It's this weird combination of CGI, make-up and acting, and it's an amazing combo." Serkis is naturally pleased with the attention, and his performance has a better chance of being recognised by Oscar this year, as it isn't all computer-enhanced. "Finally you get to see Smeagol before he becomes corrupted by the Ring, so there's a great continuity from actually playing Smeagol into the role of Gollum," he said.

the director.” He also stated that he would not be attending the UK
premiere. “What’s the point?” he added. The same applies to Brad Dourif who
plays Wormtongue. He’s out too. What’s the point? None at all.” Last night

The Lord of the Rings:The Return of the King The new soundtrack, released November 24th via Reprise
With 400,000 sales in the UK alone of the previous two soundtrack instalments of Peter Jackson's 'The Lord Of The Rings', the trilogy is not only one of the biggest in movie history but the accompanying soundtracks are also amongst the biggest in music history. The soundtrack to the final instalment, 'The Return of the King', will be released on November 24th via Reprise.
'The Return of the King' features the new song 'Into The West' performed by Annie Lennox as well as the score, composed, orchestrated and conducted by Oscar and Grammy Award winner Howard Shore. Also featured are acclaimed soprano Renee Fleming and renowned Irish flautist Sir James Galway.
'The Return Of The King' will be available on regular CD as well as a deluxe CD/DVD. The deluxe edition will feature a bonus DVD with bonus material including a 'Lord Of The Rings' supertrailer, a 'Return Of The King' photo gallery from the recording sessions, film stills and poems and lyrics from 'The Return Of The King.' But the most exciting extra are the 20 minute documentary 'Use Well The Days: A Behind The Scenes Portrait of Howard Shore' by Elizabeth Cotnoir which examines his work on the film score, as well as a second Annie Lennox track exclusive to DVD.
"Howard has always understood the emotional truth that lies of the centre of this story," remarks Jackson. "He has succeeded in drawing the audience into the very heart of its beauty, heroism and sadness."
'The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King' will hit UK cinemas on December 17th.

Tuesday 11th November 2003: Lord of the Rings: Return of the King Update: Peter Jackson has denied suggestions he was forced to cut scenes featuring
Christopher Lee from the forthcoming The Lord of the Rings: The Return of
the King movie after interference from the studio. The Kiwi film-maker says
New Line Cinema did not demand cuts to keep the film's running time down.
Jackson admitted that the third part of the trilogy, which opens worldwide
on December 17, will not now include scenes featuring Lee which were
originally filmed for its first seven minutes. But he insisted the move was
a purely directorial decision to improve the movie's pacing and promised
that the scenes would be reinstated for the by now customary extended DVD
version. "The problem is that the sequence was originally shot for The Two
Towers, as it is in the book,” said Jackson. “Since The Two Towers couldn't
sustain a seven-minute 'wrap' after Helm's Deep, we thought it would be a
good idea to save it for the beginning of The Return of the King. The
trouble is, when we viewed various ROTK cuts over the last few weeks, it
feels like the first scenes are wrapping last year's movie, instead of
starting the new one. We felt it got ROTK off to an uncertain beginning,
since Saruman plays no role in the events of ROTK (we don't have the
Scouring later, as the book does), yet we dwell in Isengard for quite a long
time before our new story kicks off. We reluctantly made the decision to
save this sequence for the DVD. The choice was made on the basis that most
people will assume that Saruman was vanquished by the Helm's Deep events,
and Ent attack. We can now crack straight into setting up the narrative
tension of ROTK, which features Sauron as the villain."

Lord of the Rings fans are lining up to sponsor a seat in the New Zealand cinema where the final film in the trilogy will have its world premiere.
Wellington's Embassy Theatre Trust has launched the appeal to help fund rebuilding of the classic 1920s cinema ahead of the December premiere.
The multi-million dollar refurbishment project has been championed by the film's director, New Zealander Peter Jackson. He has produced the Lord of the Rings trilogy at his Wellington headquarters - the first such large scale movie production in New Zealand.
Sponsors will have the right to a name plaque on their seat, although not the right to sit in it for the premiere of the The Return of the King, or the first public screenings two weeks later.
Already, 613 of the 748 seats on offer have been snapped up for as much as NZ$1,850 (about £650) - including by fans from Japan, the United States and Canada.
Trust chairman Bill Sheat said appeal gained momentum when details of the seats' availability were posted on an official Lord of the Rings fan website.
The Trust is expected to fund the renovation work - which is due for completion next month - but Wellington City Council has underwritten the cost to ensure it is completed ahead of the premiere.

Viggo Mortensen has been talking about playing Aragorn in The Lord of the Rings trilogy. "Here was a person who was not lacking in courage or compassion for others," he said. "He had a willingness to serve a greater common good, and he was not without fear, either. What I like about the story is that it's not the story of one hero. It's the story of collective heroism, in which each character goes through their own personal challenges to find their own way."
Tuesday 26th August 2003: Lord of the Rings: Return of the King Update:
The first two installments of The Lord of the Rings trilogy are to be
re-released prior to The Return of the King’s bow in December, this time
with additional scenes and footage. New Line Cinema executives hope that
refreshing filmgoers’ memories with The Fellowship Of The Ring and The Two
Towers will help promote the final part, which is due for worldwide release
on December 17. “The release of the third film affords us a
once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to give audiences a compelling new theatrical
experience of Peter Jackson’s sprawling vision for the trilogy,” said New
Line’s president for worldwide distribution, Rolf Mittweg. Meanwhile,
Jackson himself has been talking about part three, which he fully expects to
be the trilogy’s crowning glory. “Everybody feels we are paying off the
story now," he said in a recent interview. "The scenes tend to be more
emotionally charged, which is why the actors enjoyed them and why I enjoyed
filming them. It absolutely has to be the best. We owe it to people."

Thursday 14th August 2003: Lord of the Rings: Return of the King Update:
Karl Urban, who plays Eomer in the forthcoming The Lord of the Rings: The
Return of the King, has been talking about the movie, notably the Battle of
Pelennor Fields. “The battle takes place on the huge, grassy plains outside
the city of Gondor and it constitutes one of the largest cavalry charges in
the history of cinema,” he explained. “It's a ferocious battle, which is
very costly for some of the characters in The Return of the King. We shot
the charge down in Twizel, on the South Island, and it was a phenomenal
experience. There were like 500 horsemen and horsewomen charging down this
plain, and it was just incredible hearing the rumble. The ground was
actually shaking.”
Saturday 9th August 2003: Lord of the Rings: Return of the King Update:
Bernard Hill, who plays King Theoden in The Lord of the Rings: The Return of
the King, has been talking about the forthcoming movie. Theoden plays a key
role in one of the film’s many battle scenes, the Battle of Pelennor Fields
in Film, but how does it differ from the carnage we saw at Helm's Deep?
“Helm's Deep was a defensive thing that nearly went wrong, whereas Pelennor
Fields is an attack,” he explained. “It's like the Light Brigade. Follow me,
let's charge. So it's a complete reverse from Helm's Deep and much more
positive.” Hill also echoed many of his co-stars by rating the film the best
of the three. “I think the story is the strongest of the trilogy,” he said.
“It has a higher emotional content than the first two films. Plus, Peter's
been living with film three the longest, and he will take advantage of
everything he learned on films one and two.
Thursday 7th August 2003: Lord of the Rings: Return of the King Update:
Karl Urban who stars as Éomer has been talking about his role in Return of
the King "He aids the Fellowship to achieving their goal of distracting ...
Sauron. It's just going to be epic. We've got the battle of Pelennor
Fields. We've got Shelob. We've got the assault on Mordor, you know? It's
just going to be absolutely massive."
Wednesday 6th August 2003: Lord of the Rings: Return of the King Update:
Looks like excitementis building already for this winter's release of
Return of the King as in Japan on the 2nd of August 13,645 advance tickets
were sold! But to take this into prespective , the company who was selling
the tickets were running a promotion for 1,000 fans to meete Elijah Wood on
that day only!
Tuesday 5th August 2003: Lord of the Rings: Return of the King Update:
The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King director Peter Jackson has
been talking about progress on the third film. "We're shooting, we're
cutting, the visual effects still have a long way to go before they are
done, we haven't started recording the music yet, so for me there may be
light at the end of the tunnel, but the premiere in December still seems a
long, long way away from where I am at the moment," he said. Jackson
admitted to sadness that he had now finished filming scenes with the
trilogy's stars. "I have experienced my last day of shooting Elijah Wood as
Frodo and my last day of shooting Viggo (Mortensen) as Aragorn. Those to me
are more profound than what my personal last day is going to be." He also
said The Return of the King would be the best of the three films, and his
personal favorite. "It is the movie that I want to be most proud of, so I am
working very hard to make sure that happens. I think when people look back
at the three films, I want Return of the King to be the one that really
lingers with them in terms of the emotional experience. I want it to be the
reason why we made the other two films.
Tuesday 29th July 2003: Lord of the Rings: Return of the King Update:
Elijah Wood and Dominic Monaghan have been talking about The Lord of the
Rings: The Return of the King. "It's a full-on war movie," said Wood
recently. "As Elijah said, lots of war," added Monaghan. As for Peter
Jackson’s comment that it’s going to be “the most massive war movie ever
shown on film,” Wood remarked: “It's a massive boast, but I'd say it's
pretty close to that."
Thursday 24th July 2003: Lord of the Rings: Return of the King Update:
Dominic Monaghan has been talking about his re-shoots for The Lord of the
Rings: The Return of the King. "We just got back about two weeks ago from
about a month of re-shoots, which is cool," Monaghan said in a recent
interview. "Kind of bizarre to keep going back there and revisiting these
characters. Merry's off on his own now, you know, so the majority of stuff
that I do is on my own. Kind of freaky." Monaghan added that his re-shoots
involved "finessing" things. "Some scenes with Gandalf and Pippin, where
Pippin and Gandalf head off to Minas Tirith, we kind of fleshed out those
scenes a little bit," he said. "A little bit of Merry on the battlefield, we
kind of finessed a bit of that. And Merry and Éowyn and Merry and Théoden
[Bernard Hill] stuff. But nothing too huge. Just drawing out a scene and
giving it a little weight."

Dominic Monaghan has been raving about a cut he hs seen of Return of the
King "I saw a cut and it was like being dipped in electricity. It's an
incredible piece of work. If everybody thinks Peter Jackson has peaked with
The Two Towers, they haven't seen his full power yet. I sincerely believe
that The Return of the King is gonna be one of the best films you'll ever
see."

Thursday 26th June 2003: Lord of the Rings: Return of the King Update:
Sir Ian McKellen has been talking abour the reshoots for Return of the King
"My work revolves around a few new lines that will be cut within scenes
otherwise completed over two years ago, some of which I have no
recollection of having read, let alone learnt and filmed! It's little
wonder that the director has had the same problem, solved by replaying shot
footage on a palm-sized video recorder (labelled "My Precious Clam-shell")
and consulting the shooting notes of Victoria Sullivan, in charge of script
continuity. Hundreds of Polaroids have accurately recorded details of the
costumes, make-up and settings for every scene - and then it floods
back...Seeing this three hour version, without Howard Shore's music or
Jackson's editing, let alone the visual and sounds effects, I could easily
tell why everyone here is agreed that this last film will be the best of
the three. Some situations are effortlessly tear?provoking and the physical
excitement and pageantry eclipse even the Helm's Deep fighting of the Two
Towers. Elijah Wood's performance deepens and ripens, but all the hobbits
have their acting chances and run with them."
Tuesday 24th June 2003: Lord of the Rings: Return of The King Update:
The following information has appeared online concerning the possible marketing of Return of the King "The first of a series characters of the posters is supposed to start in middle of June. On first of them will be represented Aragorn. Then approximately monthly begin to occur the working posters with other characters. The cinemas will or replace already hanging posters with everyone by subsequent creative, or, that is more probable, will collect all collection down to autumn. Teaser Trailer - The short trailer prepares for start in middle summer. From the point of view of general campaign of representation of film it is important, that it differed from impression made by a working trailer of "Two Towers". Final Poster - Idea in connecting all teasers together and to connect them in a final one-sheet, which will appear at the end of autumn. On the final poster there will be no so many characters, as it was on last poster of "Two Towers". Final Trailer - Full-length the final trailer with special effects for the first time will appear in September pasted to copies of "Secondhand Lions"
Tuesday 24th June 2003: Lord of the Rings: Return of the King Update:
Orlando Bloom has been talking about the reshoots on Return of the King "I did the reshoots a few weeks ago, [Director Peter Jackson] loved the audience's reaction in the first movie [to] Leggy running over the back of the cave troll and killing the cave troll, and then in the second movie, sliding down the stairs and jumping [off] the horse. And in the third movie, he's kind of combined a whole load of stuff. So it's like another one of those sort of Leggy moments."
Monday 2nd June 2003: Lord of the Rings: Return of the King Update:
Christoper Lee has been talking Lord of the Rings: Return of the King. The
actor, who has traveled back to New Zealand for pick-ups, said in a recent
interview that hes really looking forward to the films release. I cannot
wait for Return of the King, he enthused. It is the climax and people will
get an overall picture of Middle Earth and of Tolkien. I want people to
appreciate what has been achieved. Before Lord of the Rings, some people
would have just classed Peter Jackson as a horror director. But there is a
mind there. Somebody once asked me how I found Peter Jackson and I said:
'Well, I parted his hair and there he was. Look what he has done. He
persuaded New Line to invest in making three films at the same time. When I
first read Lord of the Rings I wanted to see a film of it. But at that time
the technology wasn't there, there was no such thing as CGI." Added Lee: I
am very excited about Return of the King. [I want] to see how they have done
it. I have only seen a few short rushes of the film and I am still not sure
how it ends. If I did, I still couldn't tell you. He also said that he was
appalled when the first movie failed to win major Oscars. "They can't not
give awards to The Return of the King," he said. "When there were no Best
Picture or Best Director awards for The Fellowship, I thought it was a
disgrace. The other [nominated films] were good movies but they did not even
compare. You can't compare anything to these films. You cannot compare it
with Star Wars or the Matrix, which I didn't understand a word of. There
will never be anything like it again. I am very lucky in this late stage of
my career to have worked with Tim Burton, Peter Jackson, George Lucas. I
love to work and to be able to still be working is wonderful, after all how
many roles are there for 81-year-olds? It has been hard work but definitely
worth it."

New Line Cinema has confirmed that the Embassy Theatre in Wellington, New
Zealand, will host the world premiere of The Lord of the Rings: The Return
of the King on December 1. The announcement follows a chaotic six weeks
which saw the council meet three times to first agree to funding for the
Embassy refurbishment, then rescind the decision, before finally this month
agreeing to a $4.5 million underwrite.
Monday 26th May 2003: Lord of the Rings: Return of the King Update:
The latest issue of the official Lord of the Rings magazine includes new
details on the final installment, The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the
Kings, in comparison to the book. (Spoiler warning). Some spoilers revealed
that the Isengard sequence is at the beginning of the story. Minas Morgul,
the stairs of Cirith Ungol and Shelob's lair are also in the film.
Unfortunately, we'll not see a Scouring of the Shire or Ghan-Buri-Ghan. The
magazine reports that the film appears to follow the book reasonably well.
You can check out more details, including word on Shelob, by clicking here.

Tuesday 20th May 2003: Lord of the Rings: Return of the King Update:
Andy Serkis is apparently still filming scenes for The Lord of the Rings:
The Return of the King, even though principal photography ended two years
ago. Serkis is still shooting motion-capture and doing additional voice
recording for the CGI version of Gollum, a role which snagged him an honour
as best supporting actor in a film at the recent Saturn Awards. "I've been
really kind of (working) longer than a lot of the other actors, because
every single scene I do on set during principal photography I then have to
repeat in the motion-capture studio," he explained. "I've been really
backwards and forwards for the last three-and-a-half years ... to New
Zealand."

Thursday 14th May 2003: Lord of the Rings: Return of the King Update:
Those lucky blighters at IGN Filmforce have managed to get an early peek at
some footage from The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, which was
on display at an electronic entertainment exhibition staged in LA. The
scenes included Eowyn standing and looking rather sad, Frodo and Sam
climbing a mountain, a shot of soldiers on horseback marching through a camp
in a green grassy clearing, lots of shots of Gandalf in Minas Tirith,
archers in a city courtyard (most likely Minas Tirith) taking aim and
firing, an awesome shot of Gandalf on Shadowfax leading troops through the
city streets, new shots of Aragorn, Gimli, and Legolas in battle, Eomer on
horseback leading a charge into battle and Gondorian soldiers in full armor
on horseback charging into battle right into a line of orcs.
Wednesday 7th May 2003: Lord of the Rings: Return of the King Update:
What in the name of Middle Earth is going on with the world premiere for The
Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King? Good question, to which an answer
now appears to have emerged after Wellington in New Zealand has calmed fears
that it would lose the prestigious event. At one stage, the premiere looked
like being moved to Los Angeles after it was decided that Wellingtons
biggest cinema wasnt fit to host an Urak-Hai knees-up. But at a hastily
arranged emergency meeting, Wellington Council agreed to stump up NZ $4.5
million ($2.6 million) to refurbish the venue. "We have given our commitment
to full refurbishment of the Embassy Theatre," Wellington mayor Kerry
Prendergast said.
Wednesday 7th May 2003: Lord of the Rings: Return of the King Update:
The Coming Soon! site has published a major The Lord of the Rings: The
Return of the King spoiler, courtesy of one Sir Ian McKellen. It wont come
as a big surprise to anyone who has read the book, but anyone who doesnt
know what happens in part three might want to steer clear. All will be
revealed if you click here.
Monday 5th May 2003: The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King Update:
Word is that Wellington may not get the world premiere of Return of the King, all due to the standard of the Embassy theatre. Mark Ordesky had this to say "However, we have an expectation that the venue will be of a standard analogous to the Odeon Leicester Square in London and the Ziegfield Theater in Manhattan (where the two previous Rings world premieres were held). The Embassy is not currently at that level."
Monday 5th May 2003: Lord of the Rings: Return of the King Update:
Casting Director Liz Mullane is looking for 200 extras to play Rohans in reshoots on Return of the King. They are a Nordic-looking race tall and statuesque with long, blonde or red hair, or, for the men, bald with beards. Men aged over 16 and women over 55 are particularly sought. Extras needed to be able to work at short notice and would get between two and six days' work from May 20 till the end of June. "Peter is a director who really likes character in people's faces. The background is hugely important because it finishes off the scene. You might be focusing on the main characters but if you have great-looking extras, then the whole scene works."The casting call is next Saturday at Lane Park Community Auditorium in Upper Hutt, New Zealand between 11am and 3pm.
Tuesday 29th April 2003: Lord of the Rings: Return of the King Update:
TheOneRing have checked out our supposed insider and it now looks as if it was just complete rumour, and maybe even someone wilfully stirring things up. This is the info that TheOneRing has mentioned
"Just be aware of the following, ALL of the report below is incorrect. There is NO
SFX crunch for ROTK, there is NO push by New Line for a trailer for
April...there will BE NO TRAILER IN MAY.
And as far as ROTK being a THREE disk movie? They haven't even completed a
final cut of the film, there is currently NO INDICATION that the ROTK DVD is
being worked on at the moment.
When I asked around about the Ian Holm wanting to do the Hobbit Mini-Series
I recieved this responce from an insider 'what kind of stuff are you on?'
There is NO INDICATION that New Line is working on the Hobbit, they don't
even have the rights to it...they have the option TO option it (which means
they get first dips IF there is a production), AND what on earth would PJ
want to do a mini series right now? He's got work on the TTT:EE DVD, ROTK,
the ROTK:EE DVDs and not to mention a small movie called KING KONG! His
hands are full!" Thanks to Xoanon for delving further into this report.
Tuesday 29th April 2003: Lord of the Rings: Return of the King Update:
An insider, who has asked us specifically to remain anonymous, on the production of Return of the King has weighed in with a very interesting report on Return of the King "The filmmakers are under pressure from New Line to get a trailer ready by the end of April as it has to be reay by then to get into the cinemas in May. There are also discussions that the final print of the movie may have to be cut drastically, not only for length but due to the scale of the FX work that is still to be completed and would not be completed in time. This will mean the movie having to be spread over three discs when it gets released on DVD." Whew I'm stunned at that news, a THREE disc movie! He also weighed in with the following "Ian Holm is trying to get Peter Jackson to be an executive producer on the Hobbit TV series that is being developed for a planned release of 2006. Peter has agreed, but won't be able to take a major part in the production due to his commitment to King Kong"
Monday 27th April 2003: Lord of the Rings: The Return of the KIng Update:
Howard Shore has been talking about Return of the King "I can tell you that having seen The Return of the King, it is a great film. It is amazing. You're ultimately dealing with a nine- to 10-hour film. You're creating a large musical work, a 10-hour piece, using all the Tolkien languages."

Monday 17th March 2003: Lord of the Rings: Return of the King Update:
Billy Boyd has revealed he has seen a rough cut of the movie and boy is he excited "I don't think people have any idea it's incredible. We've started with the best source material and then the script they wrote is probably the best screenplay I've ever read, was near tears just reading the screenplay. It was so emotional. On top of that, people already know the character and have been on journeys with all these guys. This is sort of the end of all those stories. It's just got so much going for it before (Jackson) adds the special touches."
Friday 14th March 2003: Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King Update:
Details of Return of the KIng have surfaced from a WETA Lecture held at Victoria University "With The Return of the King,
Massive (the software used to create CG armies) is apparently being stretched to its limits. Peter Jackson is saying that the great battle must be
several times larger than that of Helm's Deep. Weta Digital has only now just finished the extra footage for TTT DVD that will be released later this
year and is now starting work for RoTK. In TTT there were approximately 800 Computer Graphics shots. They are expecting in excess of 1000 for the
third film"
Friday 28th February 2003: Lord of the Rings: Return of the King Update:
Peter Jackson has revealed the reason why there won't be a Return of the KIng trailer in front of The Two Towers. It's because of the huge amount of FX work needed for the Two Towers DVD. The extended cut of the movie is requiring an extra 150 FX shots, that plus the FX work required for Return of the King has necessitated holding back the trailer. However the trailer will be released in May/June.
Wednesday 26th February 2003: Lord of the Rings: Return of the King Update:
Rumours are circulating that you won't get to see a Return of the King trailer attached to prints of The Two Towers that are still on release. However New Line will be releasing Willard on March 14th and A Man Apart on April 4th so you never know...
Friday 7th February 2003: Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King Update:
Word this week of major problems with the filming of Return of the King have been scotched by the production and the movie requires no more work than the other two movies required.
Thursday 6th February 2003: Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King Update:
The length of The Return of the KIng is being rumoured at between 3 1/2 to 4 hours. The main characters are all thought to be returning for reshoots this summer as it is rumoured that Peter Jackson was unhappy with the scenes that were shot by two of the filming units, with everything they shot having to be filmed again. The battle scenes at Pelannor Fields and the Black Gate will also be more complex as they will be near full daylight and much harder to hide problems.
Thursday 6th February 2003: Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King Update:
Ian McKellen has been revealing a nice little tidbit about the upcoming The Return of the KIng "In an e-mail I got just now from Peter Jackson, I asked if he was coming tonight and he said 'no,' he can't but he's recorded a video message and then he put a PS at the bottom. It said: 'And Return of The King is looking very, very good!' So, I tell you, if Peter Jackson's boasting how good the third film is now, then we'd all better watch out!"
Tuesday 4th February 2003: Lord of the Rings: Return of the King Update:
Rumours are circulating that you will not see Shelob in the hotly anticapated trailer, and why not? Well it seems like work on Shelob hasn't been finished yet and won't be until just before the release of the movie.

Thursday 9th January 2003: Lord of the Rings: Return of the King Update:
Andy Serkis has been talking about his transformation from Smeagol into Gollum that will appear in the final part of the Lord of the Rings trilogy. "If I didn't know it was going to be in the third [film] I would be upset. You actually see me onscreen, which was going to be in this film, transforming into Gollum once he kills Deagol. You see this whole kind of descent into madness. You see him physically becoming more and more decrepit. [The] last stage is becoming the CG Gollum. Peter and Fran told me that wasn't going to be in this film. They thought it would play much better into the next one."

Thursday 12th December 2002:Lord of the Rings: The Return Of The King:
Thursday 12th December 2002: Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers Update:
Director Peter Jackson has already turned his attention to the DVD for The Two Towers and The Return of the King "We've got a rough cut. And I just started last week, before I came over here, I started to do the final cutting of it which will take me about three months. And then there's all the visual effects to do and the music and everything else so we're pretty busy next year. The third one is my favourite I think of the three". And as to the DVD "There's some great scenes - good stuff with Merry and Pippin and Treebeard. A couple of good Gollum scenes actually that we're going to put on the DVD that we didn't end up using in the film. There'll probably be about the same amount of footage roughly as there was for the Fellowship - about 30 - 35 minutes worth of footage. There's a lot of good stuff, strong scenes".
Monday 2nd December 2002: Lord Of The Rings: Return of the King Update:
Rumours are circulating that the final part of the Lord of the Rings trilogy will be released on IMAX when it is released in December of 2004. Peter Jackson has been quoted of an IMAX showing as "This is the way I dreamt my movie would be shown." IMAX would have to put an intermission into the movie as IMAX can only carry two hours of film at one go.
