Shots of Barbara Streisand shooting Meet the Fockers can be
seen over at Barbara
Streisand Archives. In the sequel, Pam's (Polo) parents
get to meet Greg's (Stiller) parents, the Fockers. The hyper-relaxed
Fockers and the tightly-wound Byrneses are woefully mismatched
from the start, and no matter how hard Greg and Pam try, there
is just no bringing their families together--which all adds
up to a disastrously funny time of "getting to know you."

It's been confirmed after the recent rumours, Barbra Streisand
WILL play Ben Stiller's mum in Meet The Fockers!
Wednesday
25th February 2004: Meet the Fockers Update:
Word reaches us that for the Meet the Parents sequel one of
the main twists will be that Ben Stiller's character will
have an illegitimate son that none of his family knows about.
The mother of the son is called Monique, she was the fokker's
former housekeeper. The producers are looking for an african
american woman in her 30s to 40s and also a 13-16 year old
boy to play the roles. Sounds like they are really going to
put Gaylord through the wringer this time!
Wednesday
28th January 2004: Meet The Fockers Update:
Barbra Streisand's husband James Brolin has revealed that
while she may not have inked on yet she is reading the script.
Ben Stiller is keen for her to take the role alongside Dustin
Hoffman as his character's parents.
Tuesday
27th January 2004: Meet the Fockers Update:
Barbra
Streisand Indeed Reading Fockers Script Source: The Associated
Press Tuesday, January 27, 2004
Barbra
Streisand is reading the script for Meet the Fockers, the
sequel to 2000's Meet the Parents, her husband, James Brolin,
said in an interview on Access Hollywood. "I know she
is reading it," said Brolin.
Streisand's
participation as Ben Stiller's mother would mark a return
to film for the 61-year-old singer-actress after an eight-year
hiatus. She starred in 1996's The Mirror Has Two Faces.
At the
premiere of Along Came Polly, Stiller told USA Today, "My
dream is Barbra Streisand." Dustin Hoffman has signed
to play the dad.
In the
sequel, Greg Focker (Stiller) is "in" with his soon-to-be
in-laws, Jack (Robert De Niro) and Dina Byrnes, and it looks
like smooth sailing for him and his fiancée, Pam (Teri
Polo). But that's before Pam's parents meet Greg's parents,
the Fockers. The hyper-relaxed Fockers and the tightly-wound
Byrneses are woefully mismatched from the start, and no matter
how hard Greg and Pam try, there is just no bringing their
families together--which all adds up to a disastrously funny
time of "getting to know you."
Wednesday
21st January 2004: Meet the Fockers Update:
Word reaches us today that just days after Ben Stiller was
talking about wanting Dustin Hoffman to play his Dad in Meet
the Fockers that they have signed him up for the role. The
movie already has a release date pencilled in as 22nd December
2004. They'll have to start filming pretty soon if they are
hoping to make that date. Also confirmed to return are Teri
Polo, Blythe Danner and Robert De Niro. That pretty much leaves
Stiller's mom to be signed up.
Friday
16th January 2004: Meet the Fockers Update:
Ben Stiller has revealed that the reason that Meet The Fockers
has not started filming yet is that they are still looking
for the ideal people to play his parents. His ideal candidates
are thought to be Barbara Streisand and Dustin Hoffman!
Friday
24th October 2003: Meet The Fockers Update:
Robert De Niro might have postponed the start of his next
feature, Hide and
Seek, this week in order to treat his recently-discovered
prostate cancer,
but the sequel to 2000’s Meet the Parents is currently
moving towards a
filming start date of mid-March in Los Angeles. The follow-up,
called Meet
the Fokekrs, already has De Niro and Ben Stiller back on board,
but there is
no word yet about the return of Teri Polo or Blythe Danner.
Vince Di Meglio and Tim Rasmussen have reportedly been hired
to rewrite the
film’s original script, with Jay Roach set to resume
his directorial duties
from the first movie.
A 2005 release is anticipated.
Tuesday
7th October 2003: Meet The Fockers Update:
Actress Teri Polo has hinted that filming on the Meet the
Parents sequel,
Meet the Fockers, could start in the spring. During a recent
interview, she
explained that she had some contribution to a scene which
is currently in
the script. In it, she is introduced to Greg's (Ben Stiller)
parents, Mr and
Msrs Fokker, and his grandmother, "Mother Fokker."
