Yup, that's the title for Speilberg's currently filming thriller that was previously titled Munich. Some more details of the plot have sneaked out as well. Munich is an historical thriller set in the aftermath of the 1972 massacre of 11 Israeli athletes at the Munich Olympics. Universal Pictures will release the film in the United States and Canada on December 23, 2005; DreamWorks Pictures will handle international marketing and distribution. Geoffrey Rush is joining Eric Bana and Daniel Craig in the cast of Steven Spielberg's untitled Munich Olympics project, which starts filming in Europe this July. The film, written by Tony Kushner, follows the aftermath of the 1972 Munich Olympics, where members of the Israeli team were held hostage and slain by Palestinian extremists. Variety reveals the DreamWorks and Universal co-production will be released on December 23.

 

Wednesday 15th February 2005: Vengeance:
Steven Spielberg plans a summer start for his postponed movie about the massacre of Israeli athletes at the 1972 Munich Olympics. The Universal/DreamWorks project had been scheduled to film last year. Casting had begun when Spielberg decided to have "Angels in America" playwright Tony Kushner do a rewrite on the project, on which writers Eric Roth (Forrest Gump) and Charles Randolph (The Interpreter) also had worked. Universal Pictures will release the film in the USA on December 23.

Tony Kushner, writer of Angels in America, has been brought in to rewrite the script to Steven Spielberg's olympic drama Vengenace which has been pushed back.

Director Steven Spielberg has postponed his movie Vengeance which covers the successful hunt for the 17 Palestinians who attacked the Israeli Olympic team at the 1972 Munich games becuase of fears of an attack from the terrorist who was never found. Eric Bana is still set to star but the delay has meant Ben Kingsley has dropped out.

Spielberg's untitled film based on events at the 1972 olympics has had a boost with Troy actor Eric Bana coming onboard to star. Kathleen Kennedy and Barry Mendel are also producing for DreamWorks and Universal. The script comes from Eric Roth.

Director Steven Spielberg's next film will deal with the aftermath of the 1972 Munich Olympics in a co-production from DreamWorks and Universal. Eric Roth has written the script a part has already been tipped for Ben Kingsley.
