Monday 29th March 2004: Napoleon and Betsy Update:
Al Pacino has been signed up to star in The Monster of Longwood with Patrice Chereau signed up to direct. The script has been written by Michael Tolkin, with a rewrite by Paul Auster and produced by Patrice Chereau. The movie tells the story of Napoleon's last days on St. Helena and his relationship with a girl. And this is where things get complicated, just last week it was announced that Scarlett Johanson was attached to star in Napoleon and Betsy, which is the same story. Patrice Chereau has signed up a legal team to try and stop the Napoleon and Betsy project on the assertion that Rebecca Kennedy wrote a draft of his project, Scarlett Johanson had did a reading of his project with Pacino and to my mind this is the clincher Scarlett Johanson's mother was attached as associate producer.
