Thursday 9th June 2005: Movie News: Need: Item Posted by: Loretta Francis: Paramount has hired Ryan Murphy ("Nip/Tuck") to direct "Need," the psychological thriller set up at Sony-based Escape Artists. "Need" is based on Lawrence David's novel about a Gotham therapist's discovery that one of her female patients is having an affair with her husband. Murphy is planning to rewrite the script and will begin casting in the fall and filming in the winter. Chloe King wrote the original script, while Jon Bokenkamp did a rewrite.

Tuesday 4th November 2003: Need Update:
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre director Marcus Nispel has signed to helm Need
for Escape Artists and Paramount Pictures. Production is slated to start in
February in Los Angeles. The story focuses on a successful New York
therapist who discovers that one of her patients, a suicidal woman named
Beth, is having an affair with her husband. Diane Lane is in final
negotiations to star as the therapist. The co-starring roles have yet to be
cast.

Unfaithful star Diane Lane has signed up to star as a successful New York therapist who discovers that one of her patients -- a suicidal woman named Beth -- is having an affair with her husband. Chloe King wrote the script, which is based loosely on Lawrence David's novel of the same name. Jon Bokenkamp rewrote the material.

Halle Berry is very busy she has at least EIGHT movies in development. Need will be directed by Luis Mandoki and will co star Marisa Tomei who will play a suicidal patient who is having an affair with her therapist's husband, the therapist's role will be the one that Halle Berry will take.
