Latest updates on Neverland

Neverland Updated :

Wednesday 14th May 2003: Neverland Update:
Actress Olivia Williams has been heaping praise on PJ Hogan's Neverland
"It's the PJ Hogan take, which I think is a fantastic one," she enthused.
"He's gone right back to JM Barrie's play and book and taken the great
lines that we all love from when we were kids.He has a fantastic twinkly
imagination for colour and fantasy but also a great eye for satire. He's
totally nailed the amateur psychology of Mr Darling, the children's father,
being Captain Hook, who is their worst nightmare. It's all done very
tongue-in-cheek but absolutely faithful to JM Barrie. Even the lines are
all Barrie. The kids in the film are really kids, it's not some
forty-year-old playing a child. It's going to be the kiddie movie that
parents want to take their children to, rather than sitting in the cinema
reading their paper with a torch, which is what my dad used to do. I think
it's Peter Pan as it should be, which has never been done before."

2nd July 2002: Neverland Update:
Neverland, or JM Barrie's Neverland as it sometimes referred to, is the biopic of author and creator of Peter Pan. The film will be set in the late 1800's and will center around Barrie's struggle to bring Peter Pan, the play, to the London stage. The film will also detail Barrie's real life experiences with a group of fatherless children that he got know at the time of writing the play. It will also focus on the author's relationship with 'Sylvia', the dying mother of one of the children. These experiences inspired Barrie to write about a fictional, magical place where nobody grew up and lived forever. A place called Never-Neverland.

Johnny Depp has been cast in the role of JM Barrie. He joins Kate Winslet who will star as the terminally ill Sylvia Davies. Also supporting are Julie Christie and Radha Mitchell. In talks to play Barrie's real-life financial backer is Dustin Hoffman. Hoffman himself played Caprtain Hook, a character from Peter Pan, in Spielberg's Hokk back in 1991.

In the director's chair is Swiss filmmaker Marc Forster, currently riding high off the success of Monster's Ball, in which Halle Berry, his leading lady received the Best Actress Oscar. So we know this guy can get wonderful, powerful performances out of his actors.

The film has already kicked off shooting in and around London, England.

There are a whole bunch of pics from the London set of the film up. The pics are all of Depp's character, the author J.M. Barrie, who wrote the play, Peter Pan. Check the full set out over at Big Pictures USA.
