Roger Allers has joined the directing team for Open Season,
Sony's animated feature with Steve Bencick and Ron J. Friedman
as writers. -Variety

2004: Open Season Update:
Paul Westerberg will pen tracks for Sony Pictures Animation's
Open Season from director's Jill Culton and Roger Allers and
co-directed by Anthony Stacchi with digital animation from provided
by Sony's Imageworks division.
Thursday
19th February 2004: Open Season Update:
The animated film Open Season is to be voiced by such stars
as Martin
Lawrence, Ashton Kutcher and Debra Messing. The Sony Pictures
film tells the story of a 900-pound domesticated grizzly bear
named Boog (Lawrence) and a scrawny, one-horned mule deer named
Elliot (Kutcher) who are stranded together in the woods during
hunting season. It's up to the duo to rally all the other forest
animals and turn the tables on the hunters. Jill Culton and
Anthony Stacchi will direct with Steve Moore producing. It was
Moore's cartoons that inspired the project.

Friday 9th May 2003: Open Season Update:
Sony Pictures Animation are developing a project called
Open Season that will be co-directed by Jill Culton and Anthony
Stacchi. The movie will be based on cartoons by Steve Moore
and will be written by Nat Mauldin and will tell the story of
what happens in the wild when the animals scheme to turn the
tables on the hunters.Producing is Chris Jenkins

8th January 2003: Open Season Update:
Sony
Pictures will produce a computer animated film entitled Open
Season after aquiring the rights from cartoonist Steve Moore
and producer John Carls. Variety reports that the film revolves
around what happens in the wild when the tables are turned and
the hunters become the hunted. Sony says "This project
captures Steve's ironic and whimsical point of view of the world
and his astute observation of life as we know it."
