Item Posted by: Loretta Francis:
Doug Jones ("Hellboy") has been personally cast by Guillermo Del Toro himself to play the title role in his upcoming movie "Pan's Labyrinth". Jones will portray Pan, the fawn/satyr (Half man-half goat in Greek mythology) that befriends a troubled little girl during WWI. Jones is the only American actor in the cast, and he will have to learn how to speak his Spanish dialogue phonetically. The film will be shot in Spain.

Monday 22nd March 2004: Pan's Labyrinth Update:
Director Guillermo del Toro has revealed in an interview that he is developing a movie called Pan's Labyrinth "Pan's Labyrinth is, to me, the exact bookend to that [The Devil's Backbone]. It's 1943 and the Fascists have won and it's the story of a fascist family that moves into an old house and the oldest daughter, who is twelve, falls in love with a fawn that lives in a ruined labyrinth behind the house. It's a little metaphor about fascism."
