Karl
Urban has been signed up to star in Pathfinder
that will be directed by Marcus Nispel. Distributing
are 20th Century Fox . The movie is a remake
of a norwegian movie (can anyone say they've
actually seen one of those?) that told the story
of Vikings in 1000AD. The remake however will
centre on the vikings discovery of America 500
years before Columbus did. Wonder why they are
remaking the movie when the script is different.
Answers not on a postcard please! The script
will be written by Laeta Kalogridis.

3rd February 2005: Pathfinder:
According to Variety, Phoenix Pictures has teamed with director
Marcus Nispel (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake) to retool
1987's Oscar-nominated Norwegian suspense-actioner "Pathfinder."
The original followed the actions of warring tribes in ancient
Norway. In the new version, the story will revolve around the
little-known battles that occurred between the Vikings and Native
Americans a thousand years ago. When a Viking boy is left behind,
he is adopted and raised as an Indian despite his straw-blonde
hair. When a Viking invasion destroys his village, he becomes
his adopted people's savior in battling the Norsemen.Ken Watanabe
(The Last Samurai) is in talks to star. Laeta Kalogridis (Alexander)
will write the script.

11th October 2004: Pathfinder update:
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre director Marcus Nispel has been
talking about a potential new project "The movie takes
place 1,200 years ago, and a small Inuit tribe is being erased
by aggressors, and a little boy runs and survives. He warns
a neighboring tribe, but they tell him that the evil will follow
the little boy. The kid says that they are right, and with his
expertise with weaponry he goes right into the open knife of
these bad guys. It's kind of like First Blood, but the exception
is that this invading tribe are Norsemen. I've never even seen
an image of a Viking meeting an American Indian." The script
comes from Alexander writer Laeta Kalogridis.
