20th Century Fox is set to acquire Glenn Standring's edgy vampire film "Perfect Creature," which stars Dougray Scott ("Mission: Impossible II"), Saffron Burrows ("Troy"), Stuart Wilson, and Scott Wills. The horror film displays a retro-futuristic world in which humans and vampires coexist. The deal is the largest sale ever made of a New Zealand film and is first time a U.S. studio has acquired a film from the compact market. The film should be in wide release later this year.

Dougray Scott and Saffron Burrows have been signed up by director
Glenn Standring to star in Perfect Creature. The movie will
be set in a world where vampires protect humans from viral and
DNA mutants until one vampire begins to prey on humans. Filming
starts on 23rd May in New Zealand.

22nd August 2003: Perfect Creature Update:
Arclight Films have picked up the international distribution
rights to a project called Perfect Creature that is being Directed
by Glenn Standring. The movie is being produced by Tim Sanders.
Starring in the movie will be Dougray Scott, with Saffron Burrows
and Jonathan Rhys-Meyer in talks. The movie mixes science fiction
and horror in a retelling of the original vampire myth, set
in an alternate version of the 1960s. Themes include race, serial
killings and the capacity of human beings to hope. Exteriors
will be shot in Dunedin in New Zealand and Animation Research
Limited will handle the effects.
